About the School of Mathematics at the Georgia Institute of Technology The School of Mathematics instructs students from across campus, including undergraduate and graduate students. Its faculty carry out research in a wide variety of Mathematical Sciences. They are key players in several cross‑disciplinary institutes, centers, and programs at Georgia Tech, including Georgia Tech AI4Science Center, and PhD programs in Algorithms, Combinatorics, and Optimization (ACO), Computational Science and Engineering (CSE), Bioinformatics, Quantitative Bioscience (QBioS), and Machine Learning (ML@GT).
Job Summary The School of Mathematics at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for one postdoctoral research position in the mathematical foundations of Artificial Intelligence for Science for Fall 2026. The position consists of an annually renewable three‑year research and teaching appointment as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the School of Mathematics and includes research funding. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students.
Responsibilities
Develop an international level research program aligned with the mission of Georgia Tech AI4Science Center.
Collaborate across the university in research and grant efforts.
Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the School of Mathematics.
Actively participate in the operation of Georgia Tech AI4Science Center.
Required Qualifications
A PhD or its equivalent in the Mathematical Sciences, granted not more than five years prior to the start of the appointment; an earned doctorate is required by the start of the appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
Potential to carry out research of exceptional quality at Georgia Tech.
Research interests complementary to existing strengths in the School of Mathematics and the mission of Georgia Tech AI4Science Center.
Strong potential for external funding.
Ability in teaching in School of Mathematics, scholarship, and/or service that contributes to the Student Success Criteria.
Student Success Criteria:
• The ability to teach and mentor a student body.
• The ability to adopt teaching strategies that support the learning and success of all students.
