Island Volunteer Caregivers (IVC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving Bainbridge Island and surrounding communities since 1996. IVC enriches our community by connecting volunteers with neighbors who are aging, living with disabilities, or facing challenges with resources, to support independent and fulfilling lives.
Role Description This is a 32‑hour, full‑time, hybrid position located in Bainbridge Island, WA. The Development and Communications Manager will lead fundraising, marketing/communications, and donor events, working closely with the Executive Director, board committees, and staff.
Responsibilities
Development
Donor recognition and cultivation strategy: plan, implement, and evaluate donor and volunteer strategies, including timely acknowledgments, gift reporting, and stewardship programs.
Campaign management: lead stewardship campaigns, coordinate the annual fundraising calendar, and manage all appeals and campaigns.
Donor relations: cultivate relationships with current and prospective donors, prepare materials for meetings, and ensure timely acknowledgments.
Planned giving: develop and implement the planned‑giving strategy, including legacy donor outreach and stewardship.
Information & technology management: manage donor metrics in Salesforce and generate reports to inform fundraising strategies.
Marketing & Communications
Strategy: develop annual marketing and communications plans tied to the organization’s strategic plan.
Collateral: create compelling communications and development collateral (social media, newsletters, brochures, impact reports, website updates, etc.).
Digital marketing: manage social media, websites, mobile marketing, and community outreach tools; migrate print messages to digital formats.
Development support: produce press releases, blog posts, impact stories, and donor‑focused email/web content.
Branding: maintain brand consistency, tone, and messaging across all external communications.
Board liaison: collaborate with Marketing and Development Committees to align messaging and strategies.
Events
Lead planning of the annual Gala, including sponsorships, vendor relationships, and communications; key member of the Auction Committee.
Organize and execute fundraising and stewardship events, including donor appreciation gatherings.
Coordinate planned‑giving small gatherings, educational events, and casual coffee/happy‑hour sessions.
Provide event support as needed, working closely with the Auction Committee, staff, and volunteers.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, nonprofit management, or related field – or equivalent experience.
Minimum 2 years of fundraising experience with a proven track record of development strategy implementation.
Minimum 2 years of event planning experience, emphasizing large‑scale event leadership.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience developing communications strategies and materials across web, reports, newsletters, donor communications, and social media.
Familiarity with Canva or similar design tools (Adobe Creative Suite).
Attention to detail; collaborative and community‑oriented.
Proficient with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Zoom, and CRM systems (Salesforce preferred); experience with Squarespace, Greater Giving, and major social media platforms.
Preferred knowledge of Bainbridge Island clientele.
Ability to work some weekends and weeknights.

Salary range (32 hrs/week): $52,874 – $70,246.
