The Software Development Engineer (SDE) supports and enhances Delta’s Fuel Management Systems (FMS and FUMES)—mission-critical applications that optimize and track aviation fuel operations globally. This role combines deep technical expertise with business understanding to modernize the legacy FMS into the next-generation FUMES platform built in AWS, driving automation, analytics, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is a full-stack engineer skilled in Angular, Node.js, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL, with hands-on experience in AWS services such as Lambda, Glue, API Gateway, CloudWatch, and QuickSight. They should be comfortable leveraging AI-assisted development tools and collaborating with cross-functional business and IT teams. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and deploy front-end applications in Angular and TypeScript for the FUMES user interface. Build and maintain server-side services using Node.js integrated with AWS Lambda and API Gateway. Implement and optimize data pipelines using AWS Glue for ETL and analytics workloads. Develop PostgreSQL database schemas, stored procedures, and queries to support both transactional and reporting needs. Integrate AI-powered tools (e.g., Amazon Q, predictive analytics, anomaly detection) to improve efficiency and data insights. Modernize legacy FMS components into cloud-native microservices within AWS. Develop dashboards and data visualizations in AWS QuickSight for fuel consumption, cost analysis, and performance metrics. Collaboration & Business Partnership Partner with fuel operations, finance, and data analytics teams to translate business requirements into scalable solutions. Work closely with architects and cloud engineers to ensure compliance with Delta’s InfoSec, data, and architecture standards. Participate in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, planning, retrospectives) and contribute to sprint delivery with quality and innovation in mind. Support QA testing, peer code reviews, and release readiness for multi-region deployments (Dev, QA, Prod). Support & Continuous Improvement Troubleshoot and resolve issues across front-end, API, and database layers. Utilize AWS CloudWatch for application logging, monitoring, and performance optimization. Contribute to DevOps automation and CI/CD pipelines. Document technical processes, architecture patterns, and lessons learned. Provide knowledge transfer and mentoring within the team on modern cloud and AI-driven practices. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience). 5+ years of full-stack development experience using: Front-End: Angular, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3 Back-End: Node.js, Express.js Database: PostgreSQL (schema design, optimization, stored procedures) Proven experience with AWS cloud services: Lambda, Glue, API Gateway, CloudWatch, QuickSight, and S3. Strong understanding of RESTful API design and integration patterns. Familiarity with AI-powered development tools or data-driven automation concepts. Knowledge of software versioning, CI/CD, and Git workflows. Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum principles. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data. Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles. Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting or modernizing a legacy Fuel Management System (FMS). Experience using Amazon Q, Copilot, or similar AI-assisted coding and troubleshooting tools. Understanding of aviation or fuel operations business processes. Exposure to data analytics or machine learning integrations for fuel or operational forecasting. Working knowledge of AWS IAM, CloudFormation, or CDK for infrastructure-as-code. Soft Skills
