Hitachi Energy
The Opportunity
Are you ready to shape the future of energy transmission? At Hitachi Energy, we’re not just building systems— we’re engineering the backbone of tomorrow’s power grid. As a global pioneer in Power Quality Solutions (PQS), we have led the way in Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) for over five decades. Now, we’re looking for passionate engineers to join our team and help us push the boundaries of control systems innovation.
In this role, you’ll work with MACH, our cutting‑edge control, protection, and monitoring system designed with high‑performance electronics, fiber‑optic communication, and advanced software. You will be part of a team that designs, tests, and commissions intelligent control systems that enhance grid stability, increase transmission capacity, and support the transition to a more sustainable energy future.
Whether you’re a seasoned expert in power electronics or a control systems engineer with a knack for simulation and firmware development, this is your chance to work on high‑impact projects that span the globe. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, interface with customers, and travel to commissioning sites where your work directly powers communities.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Design and implement control systems using MACH for FACTS applications
Develop and test control algorithms for power converters
Perform Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HIL) testing with real‑time simulators
Collaborate with global engineering teams and customers during project execution
Lead factory acceptance testing and support site commissioning
Create and maintain technical documentation and test records
Stay current with emerging technologies and contribute to system evolution
Provide technical support and participate in customer meetings
Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines
Your Background
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (default if not specified)
M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Power Systems, Power Electronics, or Control Theory
10+ years of experience in control systems or power electronics
Strong understanding of FACTS applications and control theory
Experience with MATLAB, PI/PID control algorithms, and signal processing
Knowledge of VHDL and DSP fundamentals is a plus
Must already have work authorization that would permit working for Hitachi Energy in the United States
