The Opportunity

In this role, you will have the opportunity to focus on large-scale water and wastewater infrastructure projects, delivering projects by leading significant portions of a variety of facilities throughout the design, construction, and startup phases as a technical specialist or lead. You will be involved in developing reports or technical memos, completing studies, detailed designs, and specifications, collaborating to complete cost estimates, and preparing contract documents. Participation in scheduling, budgeting, and contract administration for infrastructure projects is also part of the role, including involvement in business development and preparation of proposals. Coordinate with internal and external team members on moderately complex projects. Assist with identification of client interests and drivers on less complex projects and communicate these to the project team.

Key Responsibilities Perform design of projects from the conceptual and bid phase through design completion for project needs and requirements set by project managers based on client needs.

Assist the Engineering Manager in maintaining project schedules and budgets.

Assist the Engineering Manager in managing sub-consultants. Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, interface directly with the client or sub-consultants.

Support business development through writing technical approaches, scopes of work, and presentations to clients. Applies knowledge of civil concepts, practices, codes, and procedures in water engineering.

Apply knowledge to complex projects and develop non-standard design solutions to better serve project specifications.

Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to less experienced engineers.

Ensure effective communication with other engineering disciplines and the project team.

Prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables.

Perform complex research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.

Prepare complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.

Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.

Plan and conduct independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques and criteria.

Review engineering work and assignments of early career professionals.

Oversee data collection, assimilation, and management for engineering work; lead smaller production teams; or act as the responsible charge for a project.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline

Licensed PE or ability and interest to obtain PE and/or actively pursue registration

Thorough understanding of water and wastewater design (Infrastructure, Conveyance, Pump Stations/Lift Stations)

Ability and motivation to lead portions of complex projects with guidance and mentorship

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program

Minimum of 5 years related work experience

Certifications

Professional engineering registration is preferred or in active pursuit.

Work Environment/Physical Demands Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days based on manager discretion, performance, and work assignments.

Typical office and construction environments with associated hazards and conditions.

Physically capable of sitting, walking, talking, reading, writing, keyboarding, reaching, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
