Job Summary Location: Methodist Hospital Address: 8303 Dodge St, Omaha, NE Sign on bonus of $45,000 and Tuition Reimbursement up to $10,000. Must have a minimum of one-year experience in Cath Lab. Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 6:45am to 5:15pm, 4 - 10 hour shifts with call rotation Performs diagnostic imaging examinations. Upon orientation and successful completion of on-the-job training, assists with diagnostic angiographic procedures, complex interventional cardiology and electrophysiology procedures. Demonstrates effective technical, radiographic, and clinical skills; the ability to multitask is essential. This position requires knowledge of sterile technique and pan-scrubbing; it also shares on-call duties. Responsibilities Essential Job Functions Exam Performance/Quality Identifies each patient by two identifiers and ensures patient understanding of pending procedure. Provides comfort measures and engages patient to obtain optimal cooperation and positioning. Critiques each exam for technical and positional accuracy and makes appropriate corrections if necessary. Performs exams as their priority dictates. Ensures optimal visualization of anatomy by directing radiographic equipment. Prepares procedural rooms and equipment according to appropriate procedural needs. Assists cardiologist/electrophysiologist during procedures by operating ancillary equipment, anticipating and obtaining catheters, wires and other necessary inventory as ordered. Assists in the performance of various invasive cardiac or electrophysiological diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Functions under the direction and immediate supervision of the cardiologist/electrophysiologist performing the procedure. Provides direct, safe, competent, and quality patient care in the Interventional Cardiology department. Maintains knowledge of system applications (RIS/Cerner/PACS/Outlook/MHSIntranet) and uses them appropriately. Maintains a working knowledge of system applications and documents orders and exposures/repeats accordingly. Uses the Online Worklist to monitor orders and order status. Demonstrates knowledge to order correct exams with proper indications; starts, completes, and bills appropriately for exams performed. Matches digital images to RIS orders for viewing in PACS. Operates contrast injector and maintains daily and weekly equipment cleaning routines. Provides age-appropriate care and completes annual Age Specific Competency Quiz. Implements and revises care plans based on patient needs and established professional standards. Adheres to infection control, lab rules, and device usage policies. Collaborates with physicians and other clinical disciplines as appropriate. Provides patient health care problem-specific teaching. Keeps knowledge up-to-date with current standards and literature. Participates in time-out procedures per hospital policy. Monitors patients after dismissal from Cath Lab and assists with transfers and groin-site reports. Performs technical skills competently and independently to assure patient safety. Maintains sterility and sterile field daily. Learns new skills and equipment within area specifications and timeframes. Demonstrates professional behavior to support quality improvement and interdisciplinary relationships. Communicates effectively to solve problems at the unit level and with peer coverage. Maintains professional appearance and work environment; participates in meetings or committees as needed. Supports safe work environment and adheres to national patient safety initiatives. Schedule Mon-Fri, 6:45am to 5:15pm, 4 - 10 hour shifts with call rotation Job Requirements Education Associate degree from an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) School of Radiology Technology required. Bachelor degree from an approved ARRТ School of Radiology Technology preferred. Satisfactory completion of annual mandatory educational requirements. Experience 1 year of experience in Radiology is preferred. 1 year in a Cardiac Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology preferred. License/Certifications ARRT in Radiography (R) registered or board eligible required. ARRT Radiography credential must be obtained within 60 days of hire. Current Medical Radiographer (RAD.NE) license from Nebraska Department of Health required. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire; required within 3 months of hire. Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 2 months of hire. Certification in area of specialty preferred: RCIS or Cardiac Interventional Radiography (RT.CI.ARRT). Skills/Knowledge/Abilities Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, families, providers, and coworkers. Knowledge of invasive cardiac and electrophysiology diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Ability to support physician during surgical procedures. Skill in preparing and completing patient records/documentation. Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks; problem solving and prioritization. Flexibility to accommodate schedule fluctuations, including overtime, irregular hours, and on-call responsibilities.
