Guidance Navigation and Control Engineer
Alaka’i Technologies is a fast‑paced startup focused on enabling hydrogen air mobility for clean travel and logistics networks. We design and prototype multiple aircraft and powerplants, and we look for engineers who thrive in loosely structured environments and can take brand new concepts from whiteboard through prototyping to deployment.
The Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer is responsible for developing, testing, and deploying algorithms for the GNC of unmanned aircraft, enabling flights beyond visual line of sight for new aircraft designs.
Responsibilities
Analyze dynamical systems to understand flight physics in novel aircraft configurations and develop frameworks and tools to quantify stability margin, handling qualities, control authority, and mission‑critical concerns across all flight phases.
Work closely with test pilots to define handling and flying characteristics, participate in mission planning and scenario simulations, and provide support during flight test activities.
Develop and maintain simulation tools for dynamic aircraft systems.
Implement the hardware and software required for the navigation and communication of unmanned aircraft.
Requirements
Experience designing and testing flight control software.
Experience with BVLOS aircraft navigation and control.
Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and/or MATLAB.
Experience in implementing guidance, navigation, and control system hardware and sensors.
