Software Engineering/Applications Leadership Advisory - Executive Technology Services for Global Enterprises
About this role:
Enterprise IT Leaders (EITL) is an executive‑level advisory service that delivers expert insight and guidance tailored to each member’s context and critical initiatives. EITL covers seven domains: Applications, Data & Analytics, Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure & Operations, Program & Portfolio Management, Security & Risk, Sourcing & Vendor Management.
What you’ll do
Manage a portfolio of 28‑30 clients—software engineering and applications leaders reporting to CIOs at Fortune 100‑500 organizations.
Deliver value through regular briefings, onsite workshops, roundtables, webinars, and Gartner events.
Coach and mentor clients on critical today‑and‑tomorrow initiatives within software engineering.
Leverage Gartner intellectual property and the Enterprise Applications/Software Engineering community to add value.
Align engagements with CIO or enterprise objectives, track and report value delivered.
Drive member lifecycle phases—understand priorities, align initiatives, engage, capture, articulate value, and employ coaching skills.
Manage member retention/renewal of the subscription‑based service, ensuring high impact for clients.
Host or participate in periodic onsite member activities—workshops, roundtables, webinars.
Collaborate with other Leadership Partners in the software engineering domain to improve effectiveness and foster innovation.
What you’ll need
A university graduate (Master’s preferred).
20+ years of software engineering leadership with full responsibility for an enterprise application portfolio—including strategy, architecture, selection, deployment, operation, evolution, and retirement.
Direct reporting to a CIO as Director or VP of Software Engineering / Enterprise Applications.
Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to provide actionable, outcome‑based advice.
High tolerance for ambiguous situations and strong leadership in such environments.
Excellent relationship‑building, listening, and verbal communication skills; experience coaching senior executives.
Strong time‑management and organizational skills.
Subject Matter Expertise We seek a Director or VP of Software Engineering or Enterprise Applications with ownership of the full lifecycle of the application portfolio and a management consulting background. Experience leading large‑scale ERP programs and digital transformation initiatives (product‑oriented shift, Agile/DevOps, design thinking, cloud‑first) is highly desirable.

Compensation and Benefits Base salary range: $165,000 – $192,000 USD. Employees may also participate in an annual bonus plan or a role‑based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
