Job Overview Lead the strategic management of NextEra's SCADA platform while ensuring NERC CIP compliance and driving initiatives to unlock additional value through market specific commercial programs and continued operational excellence. This position establishes strategy, develops business plans, and oversees and manages the design, development and implementation of SCADA technology solutions for NextEra's 50 GW renewable portfolio across 7 ISOs. This role provides leadership and oversight to manage performance and results of mission‑critical systems that facilitate $2 billion in annual portfolio revenue. Individuals will be accountable for the reliability, performance, security, and continuity of NEER SCADA systems and supported renewable energy operations.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Provides leadership, influence, vision, and direction to SCADA operations teams to contribute to achieving renewable energy performance goals
Works with IT and Operations leaders to develop SCADA strategy in alignment with renewable energy business objectives and ISO market requirements
Oversees NEER SCADA value stream by focusing on cost optimization and risk mitigation of technology portfolio supporting wind, solar, and BESS assets
Supports and fosters innovative SCADA technologies to deliver new capabilities that enable renewable energy optimization and grid reliability
Ensures high levels of ongoing SCADA system performance across distributed renewable generation facilities in production environments
Attracts, develops and retains a high‑performing and diverse SCADA operations team
Establishes and drives SCADA technology roadmaps that align with current and future renewable portfolio expansion and BESS program growth
Manages third‑party SCADA vendor relationships and outsourcing partnerships to deliver project and operational support objectives
Ensures SCADA processes are conducted in line with applicable NERC CIP compliance requirements, ISO standards, and company cybersecurity policies
Oversees implementation and maintenance of NERC CIP controls for critical cyber assets, including access management, security monitoring, and incident response procedures
Coordinates with cybersecurity and compliance teams to maintain continuous NERC CIP certification and audit readiness across all SCADA systems
Performs other job‑related duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
Experience: 10+ years leading SCADA systems or renewable energy operations
Supervisor/Management Experience: 8+ years
Experience with utility‑scale renewable energy operations and ISO market structures
Proven track record managing large‑scale operational systems with significant revenue impact
Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and clearly articulate technical information to various stakeholders
Knowledge of NERC CIP compliance requirements and cybersecurity frameworks preferred
Required Qualifications
High School Grad / GED
Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
Experience: 10+ years
Supervisor/Management Experience: 5+ years
