Position Overview This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy must be met, and the EDRP application must be submitted within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount up to $200,000, and eligibility period of one to five years are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Application Deadline This ANNOUNCEMENT will remain open until December 29, 2025. The initial cut‑off date for referral of eligible applications will be November 3, 2025, with subsequent cut‑off dates every two weeks. Eligible applications received after that date will be accepted on an ongoing basis and qualified candidates will be considered as vacancies become available.

Work Schedule Full‑time, Monday to Friday; 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Pay Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, and regular salary increases.

Paid Time Off 50 to 55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays per year, and possible 5‑day paid absence for CME).

Retirement Traditional federal pension (five‑year vesting) and federal 401(k) with up to five percent in contributions by the VA.

Licensure One full and unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory.

CME Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full‑time with board certification).

Contract No physician employment contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting.

Duties The incumbent will be responsible for assessment and care of new and returning patients with any number of medical problems (e.g., hypertension, diabetes, ischemic heart disease, COPD, depression, chronic pain). Care may be delivered via face‑to‑face, telehealth, or video visits; occasional travel to VISN medical centers or community‑based outreach clinics (CBOCs) may be required. The incumbent will order diagnostics, consultations, medications, and other therapies as medically indicated, meet preventative health maintenance needs, and complete all required VA computer documentation, including clinical reminders and screenings, in a timely manner. Telehealth or video visits may only be conducted from sites of care within the VA Northern California Health Care System or VA‑approved alternate work sites.
