Overview The Department of Radiology provides care and services to patients. The MRI Department has 7 scanners in 4 locations and performs 34,000 exams per year.
Job Summary Reporting to the MRI Technical Director, performs all MRI imaging exams and procedures in accordance with BIDMC policy and the ARRT scope of practice. Performs MRI screening, IV insertions, contrast injections, patient preparation, imaging, and ensures imaging is complete.
Essential Responsibilities
Prepare and position patients for MRI; set up coils, monitoring equipment, and body positioning.
Screen patients and personnel for ferrous metal implants or other objects.
Select appropriate pulse sequences, record them, and recommend protocol changes for diagnostic improvement.
Evaluate scanning results for quality and completeness; manipulate images using console tools.
Send images to PACS, verify exam completeness promptly, and maintain PACS knowledge.
Respond to patients’ physical and psychological needs; explain procedures clearly and respectfully.
Initiate IV contrast lines, monitor for reactions, and report issues promptly to radiology staff.
Maintain accurate records, edit entries for correctness of diagnosis, procedure, and billing in the hospital computer system.
Participate in teaching programs for MRI technologist students and other technologists as needed.
Engage in continued educational activities during and outside normal working hours.
Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree in radiological technology or allied health; JRCERT accreditation required.
License as an American Registry of Rad Tech (ARRT) required; Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Registered as ARRT, ARMRIT, or CAMRT as an MR Technologist.
0–1 year related work experience.
Proficiency with computer systems, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and web‑based applications.

Pay Range $49.00 – $72.81 per hour. Base hourly wage; compensation may exceed this range based on shift differentials, call pay, overtime, and other applicable factors.
