EMPLOYEE REFERRAL PROGRAM: This position is eligible for an employee referral incentive payment of $1,000 (conditions apply).
Position Summary: In order to maximize the quality and impact that Arizona’s Judicial Branch has on the communities it serves, the Arizona Supreme Court has demonstrated a commitment to providing its employees the highest quality education and training programs possible. The Education Services Division serves as the primary coordinating unit to service this need, including for judicial officers, court staff, and probation officers throughout the state. Through cutting‑edge adult education theory and practice, and using a variety of educational modalities (i.e., in‑person sessions, webinars, computer‑based trainings, etc.), the Division directly provides and indirectly supports the education and training requirements for a broad audience with diverse needs.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and manage mandatory statewide probation officer training and certification program and juvenile detention officer training program.
Develop, create, review, and revise curriculum for probation officers, probation supervisors, and juvenile detention officers, including creating program materials, designing programs, investigating delivery methods, establishing program content, and administering tests and exams.
Serve as subject‑matter expert on evidence‑based probation practices and lead the Probation Officer Certification Academy and Intensive Probation Institute.
Oversee a cadre of approximately one‑hundred professional‑level experts within the field of probation and serve on various committees while managing complex projects as assigned.
Interact closely with other AOC divisions, judges, lawyers, chief probation officers, directors of juvenile court, instructors, and probation staff.
May be eligible for a hybrid‑telework schedule after three months of employment and proof of job performance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public administration, judicial administration, educational leadership, or related field.
At least seven years of professional experience as a certified Arizona probation officer or in a related profession such as parole or community corrections.
Knowledge of Arizona probation and juvenile detention operations, statutes, and codes; adult learning principles; evidence‑based practices; and training skills.
Ability to coach, mentor, and evaluate participants and plan and organize training programs.
Ability to incorporate legislative, regulatory, and policy changes into training and curriculum.
Strong communication skills, sound professional judgment, and independent decision‑making ability.
Preferred: Advanced degree in criminal justice, public administration, judicial administration, educational leadership, or related field.
Physical Requirements and Equipment Operation
Prepare written material using a computer and keyboard.
Lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
Valid Arizona driver’s license.
Travel up to 25% of the time.
Selection Process Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis. Only candidates whose backgrounds most closely meet the position’s needs may be invited to interview. The selection process may include first and/or second round panel interviews.
