Summary The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the finance department with mid-level accounting functions including financial reporting, audit support, and process improvement initiatives. This role ensures the accuracy and timeliness of financial data and contributes to the development and implementation of accounting procedures and controls.
Job Description Job Title : Staff Accountant
Wage Type : Exempt
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with corporate timelines.
Lead monthly close procedures and ensure accuracy of financial data.
Perform complex account reconciliations including cash, liabilities, fixed assets, and accruals.
Support internal and external audit processes by preparing audit schedules and documentation.
Review and improve accounting procedures to enhance efficiency and compliance.
Oversee accounts payable and receivable operations and ensure timely processing.
Manage Wire Transfer Processing, ACH Processing, and Exception Item Processing.
Ensure compliance with banking regulations and internal policies.
Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial operations and reporting.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff.
Carry out responsibilities with professionalism and respect for others.
Key Deliverables
Accurate and timely financial reporting.
Effective audit support and documentation.
Improved accounting processes and controls.
Organizational Structure Reports to: Accounting Manager or Controller
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
3-5 years of experience in accounting, including financial reporting and reconciliations.
Experience in banking operations preferred (Wires, ACH, Exception Processing).
Knowledge/Skills
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
High proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
Talents
Detail-oriented and analytical.
Strong problem-solving and process improvement skills.
Self-directed with sound judgment.
Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
