We Energies, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group a fortune 500 company, is seeking an experienced truck driver & warehouse worker based out of our Pewaukee, Wisconsin location. The role of the Heavy Equipment Specialist is to provide services related to delivering materials to local internal customers and contractors. Activities include material handling, loading/unloading, transportation, and other general warehouse functions utilizing a variety of equipment including, but not limited to: tractor/trailer, truck mounted cranes, forklifts and other power industrial equipment. Employee must be able to work as part of a team along with the ability to work independently at remote company locations.

Hours This is a first shift position: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm Monday through Friday with additional overtime opportunities available.

Job Summary Provide quality services in support of business unit job objectives. Services provided include movement/delivery of equipment and materials to substations, job sites, service centers, and/or vendors; assistance with materials and tactical applications to various locations throughout the WE service territory; operation of various types of heavy equipment and trucks; and site preparation and maintenance.

Job Responsibilities

Move and operate job site trailers and transport cranes and piggyback forklifts

Operate various types of equipment to provide job site support to crews

Maintain and inspect equipment for proper working order

Identify materials/equipment to be loaded/unloaded

Ensure manifest matches truckload; vehicle meets all regulations (DOT)

Load/unload trucks with materials/equipment

Use electric pallet movers and forklifts, diesel and gas-powered equipment, cranes, and specialized material handling equipment

Haul/handle hazardous materials (lead, asbestos, PCB's, etc.)

Perform point-of-use drop of materials and supplies using maps and construction prints of areas

Spot pre-assemblies and transformers using truck-mounted cranes

Coordinate delivery of oversized materials/equipment: (1) schedule delivery, (2) plot route of travel, (3) obtain permit in cooperation with local authorities

Remove electrical distribution and transmission material using various types of equipment

Physically roll (hand coil) scrap conductors and frequently lift, carry, load, and unload scrap materials

Perform job site clean-up

Contact scrap dealers for scrap pick-up

Reserve transformers and switches for Design Team

Supply Design team with drawings of transformers detailing dimensions (e.g., location and height of bushings, cooling fins, and size of cabinets for construction of foundations)

Order materials from outside suppliers

Order fuel for trucks

Respond to call-out for after-hours trouble deliveries and storm duties when needed

Perform the duties of the Material Specialist as needed

Minimum Qualifications Applicant must have graduated and received certification from a semi-truck driving school and have a minimum of one year experience operating on public roadways.

In lieu of the certification, applicant must have a minimum of two years driving semi-tractors or heavy equipment operating experience.

Examples of heavy equipment operating experience include:

Semi-tractors pulling 40 ft plus trailers

Semi-tractors pulling large mobile transformers/mobile generators

Semi-tractors pulling specific equipment trailers (i.e. lowboy, drop deck, 40 ft or greater, etc.)

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid driver's license meeting company requirements

Interstate commercial driver's license (CDL) within 90 days of entry into the job

Statutory Requirements:

Compliance with DOT commercial driver's license (CDL) drug and alcohol testing requirements

Possibly demonstration of physical capacity evaluation

Residency Requirements: The selected applicant must reside within 30 driving miles of headquarters or, if applicable, within 40 driving miles of their crossroads location and may need to relocate within 18 months of the transfer.

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs.
