The Mission:
The Director of Maintenance is responsible for executing the strategic vision for multiple support functions including Maintenance, and Manufacturing, ensuring long-term objectives are met. This role will drive value to Baseline and our customers through the execution of quality major maintenance, predictable manufacturing and shop production, and continuous improvement in our maintenance practices throughout our network of Make Ready shops. The role will support and be a thought leader to the Operations leadership teams which requires a leader with a diverse skill set that can effectively lead people, problem solve, be responsible for important business outcomes, and act both strategically and tactically depending on the needs of the company. The role reports directly to the SVP, Head of Operations. Make Ready & Asset Management
Lead, manage, and oversee Baseline’s Make Ready facilities with responsibility for on time shop production/throughput, thorough weekly, monthly, and annual planning, staffing, technician training and development, budgeting, quality, and compliance to standards all while maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. Work with senior management to develop annual maintenance capital budgets; execute all budgets and plans with high efficiency with a focus on lowering cost per HP / cost per kW of major repairs over time. All while ensuring maximum efficiency in our make ready facilities. Work with the Shop Managers, Sales, and Operations Directors to schedule equipment repairs throughout the network of company repair shops with a focus on supporting and executing Make Readies based on the pro-forma sales opportunity pipeline; ensure ready for rent, backup and major maintenance targets by generator size are achieved. Consistently identify ways to reduce logistics expense related to the movement of generator assets from field to shop, or region to region Manage and oversee Baseline’s “maintenance database”, ensuring data accuracy and integrity of parts and spend for major maintenance events. Transition data capture/storage from excel to Netsuite application. Utilizing sales and shop data, prepare and execute to monthly throughput quotas ensuring adequate ready line inventory for mechanical swaps and new deployments. Ensure all existing and newly acquired assets (new and used) are upfitted per Baseline standards with a focus on uniformity and high-quality appearance. Ensure Baseline’s standards of excellence, organization, appearance, and operational capability are met at all repair facilities. Utilize Netsuite application to document all critical asset-level information Baseline owned units, including serial numbers, make, model of engine and alternators, controller make, no shut down PM capability, emissions equipment, trailer registrations, title, and all other verifiable/trackable characteristics necessary for maintenance planning, inventory management, state compliance and ownership. As needed, evaluate Baseline’s Shop facilities ensuring each facility is properly tooled, meets safety standards, and meets expectations for the next three to five years of the needs of the business Implement and refine quality checklists, standards and testing protocols to ensure all units being deployed meet or exceed Baseline standards. Manufacturing & Assembly
Lead, manage, and oversee Baseline’s manufacturing and assembly operations with responsibility for on time production/throughput, thorough planning, staffing, development, budgeting, quality, and compliance to standards all while maintain a safe and healthy environment. Work with engineers (internal and consultants) and manufacturing staff to professionally document all manufactured products; ensure all manufactured products meet current code guidelines and requirements and are compliant with state or federal regulations Recommend enhancements or design improvements for all manufactured products with a focus on consistent cost reduction. Engage Executive Leadership as needed for sponsorship and approval of enhancements, then document, develop implementation plans, and execute. Ensure thorough documentation of all activities for manufactured products and associated processes Consistently engage with Supply Chain team to drive lower costs for all manufactured products Identify opportunities to develop new products that can add meaningful value to Baseline’s fleet and customers; consistently present opportunities to Executive Leadership Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related industry required. 10+ years’ experience in oil and gas operations, oil field service, equipment rental, heavy equipment, or related industry Minimum 5 years’ experience with natural gas engines, power generation, or compression equipment. Strong previous experience driving continuous improvement and operational excellence. Strategic leadership capability and knowledge of natural gas power generation products. Strong command of Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint) with preferred experience in Power BI and NetSuite. Adept at leveraging systems to lead teams, streamline operations, and support data-driven decision-making. Team Baseline Core Values
