Caterpillar’s Large Power Systems division has an exciting opportunity available for an Engineering Project Team Leader. As an Engineering Project Team Leader, you will manage multiple or complex engineering projects involving multiple functions, organizations, products, or value chains. This role is responsible for leading the thermofluid computational fluid dynamics (CFD) workstream within the Core Components-Validation team. The responsibilities include the leadership of standard work to support LPSD program work and the development of new or improved simulation techniques to enhance product development. What you will do
Lead and develop a worldwide team performing advanced thermofluid CFD simulation on LPSD engine components and systems. Partner closely with component and platform design teams to scope and lead projects to evaluate and optimize the coolant flow in core engine components (cylinder heads, blocks, and liners). Ensure timely, quality standard work execution for head/block/liner cooling systems for generating cooling boundary conditions for downstream structural analysis runs. Collaborate with lead structural analysis engineers to provide full engine system temperature results using conjugate heat transfer CFD analysis – for engine exhaust systems. Leverage technical expertise and engine system understanding to deliver solutions through innovative usage of thermofluid simulation. Lead the continuous improvement of a standard work library of CFD processes – leading research projects to close critical gaps – improving accuracy and reducing throughput time of these standard processes. Education and Experience Requirement
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering CFD analysis experience – using Fluent Skills you will have
Technical Excellence:
Extensive knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges. Influencing Through Expertise:
Extensive knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and impact or challenge decisions within and outside own organization. Project Management:
Expert level knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives. Team Management:
Extensive knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form and manage effective teams. Troubleshooting Technical Problems:
Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product management environment. Product Design and Development:
Extensive knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production. Top Candidates Will Have
Advanced degree in Engineering. Mechanical Engineering degree preferred. Engine product experience Component Design experience Additional Information
