About Direct-to-Consumer (DTC)

The Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) Streaming Analytics vertical is seeking a Data Analyst to join the Growth & Retention Analytics team to help understand subscriber behaviors and implement strategies to improve subscriber retention across Disney's streaming service offerings (Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN). This role will support cross-functional strategic and operational teams across the business with developing, implementing, and measuring the success of retention tactics. The team focuses on exploratory data analysis, data visualization, advanced reporting, and storytelling to provide actionable insights and recommendations to guide business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate complex analyses and results to a wide array of business stakeholders with varying technical expertise from operational teams to executive audiences, both in oral presentations and via written reports
  • Work with operational teams in Marketing, Business Operations, Strategy, and Finance to understand the performance of promotions including acquisition, cannibalization, engagement, retention, and conversion to full price
  • Develop frameworks to measure the long-term value of a DTC subscriber across multiple offerings and lifecycles. Use these methodologies to help size opportunities and measure the performance of product and feature launches and pricing/promotion strategy.
  • Work to optimize our free trial offering to optimize for paid subscribers, ad revenue, and OI.
  • Partner closely with Analytical Engineering, Data Product, Data Solutions, and Product & Tech Analytics to ensure data is properly instrumented and we have access to high quality data used to analyze and understand cancel flow outcomes across our DTC offerings
  • Create and maintain operational dashboards in Looker and Tableau to understand performance over time, enable efficient exploratory analysis, and equip partners with self-serve tools
  • Translate complex business questions into SQL including proper cohorting, calculations, filtering criteria and/or aggregations
  • Understand the systems and business processes that populate critical systems with data

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience conducting strategic analyses and communicating insights to drive decision-making
  • 2+ years of hands-on analytical work experience using SQL
  • Experience building, scaling, and interpreting complex LTV frameworks including understanding drivers of change over time and connecting them to shifts in customer behavior, product offerings, or strategy
  • Strong analytical skills with proven ability to translate complex technical outputs into clear, actionable insights
  • Highly collaborative with excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated experience presenting directly to Executive stakeholders
  • Familiarity with statistical modeling concepts and predictive analytics
  • Expertise with data exploration and data visualization tools such as Tableau or Looker
  • Comfortable working with large, complex datasets in cloud-based environments such as Snowflake

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in the streaming media industry and/or supporting a direct-to-consumer or subscription-based product
  • Familiarity with using programming languages such as Python or R for statistical modeling

The hiring range for this position in New York is $99,900 to $133,900 per year and in Santa Monica, CA is $95,300 to $127,800 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
