Overview
Manufacturing Engineer (First Shift) – Full time – Orlando, FL. This role is part of the Optical and Photonics Systems Division, which specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of complex, state-of-the-art communications systems for military, space, and commercial applications. First shift position: Monday through Friday. Second shift: 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm, with eventual move to four ten-hour days (3:30 pm to 2:00 am, Monday through Thursday). Third shift: three twelve-hour days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). Travel: Up to 10% in the Continental US. Minimum clearance: None. Employee type: Regular. Multiple Positions/Shifts Available. Opportunity to contribute to fabrication process development, cost reduction, and production quality in a fast-paced engineering environment. Responsibilities
Lead fabrication process development, documentation, ECOs, and process training; maintain production yield, quality, and cleanliness. Interface with design engineers to ensure hardware producibility and develop build strategies. Drive cost reduction and implement best process controls to produce high-quality products for customers. Direct support personnel in the day-to-day execution of manufacturing tasks. Proactively translate ideas and new concepts into tangible process improvements. Plan and support the build and modification of electronics systems, including procurement support, generation of assembly methods/work instructions, tooling design support, material/process development, facilities/equipment planning, and resolution of manufacturing, quality, and reliability issues. Qualifications
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Optical Engineering (or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years of experience; or an Associate’s Degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Optics Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar field. Knowledge of process control, cleanroom operation protocol, and process control for complex opto-mechanical and electro-optical assembly. Proven technical acumen in the manufacture, test, and integration of complex product technologies and systems (DoD or Space). Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies. Excellent communication and ability to work well in a team environment with people at all levels. U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance. Desirable: Knowledge of MIL/IPC workmanship and performance standards related to electronic assemblies (IPC-610, IPC-620, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-883, NASA specs).
