Position Overview The Sage X3 EDI Integration Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring seamless electronic data interchange (EDI) between the organization and its trading partners. This role is responsible for the development, configuration, validation, and maintenance of EDI integrations that connect Sage X3 with external business partners and internal business processes. The specialist will work closely with major trading partners and various healthcare facilities to ensure reliable, compliant, and efficient data exchange.
This individual ensures that all EDI transactions — including purchase orders, advance ship notices (ASNs), functional acknowledgments, and invoices — are processed accurately, on time, and in full compliance with partner-specific and industry EDI standards.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and implement EDI interfaces between Sage X3 ERP and trading partners using appropriate middleware or integration tools.
Map, translate, and configure EDI document types (e.g., 850, 855, 856, 810, 997) according to partner and industry specifications.
Establish and maintain communication protocols (e.g., AS2, SFTP, VAN, API) with trading partners.
Collaborate with partners’ EDI and IT teams to test, validate, and certify EDI connections.
Collaborate with the Customer Service and Warehouse teams to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment in Datalinx, the warehouse management system.
Monitor inbound and outbound EDI transactions for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
Troubleshoot and resolve EDI-related issues, transmission failures, or data mismatches.
Implement and enforce procedures for error handling, exception reporting, and data reconciliation.
Collaborate with internal departments (Sales, Procurement, Logistics, Finance) to align EDI workflows with Sage X3 business processes.
Ensure EDI data correctly integrates into Sage X3 modules, supporting order management, inventory, shipping, and invoicing operations.
Support Sage X3 upgrades or patches by testing and updating EDI integrations as required.
Ensure all EDI transactions meet partner-specific compliance requirements and industry standards.
Proactively address discrepancies to prevent chargebacks, delays, or compliance violations.
Maintain strong relationships with trading partners to ensure continuous communication and issue resolution.
Manage partner onboarding for new EDI relationships, including requirements gathering and system setup.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Sciences, Supply Chain, or related field.
3+ years of hands-on experience in EDI integration, mapping, and transaction management.
2+ years of experience working with Sage X3 ERP or a similar ERP system.
Experience with healthcare or pharmaceutical distribution partners preferred.
Skills
Strong knowledge of EDI standards and document types (ANSI X12, EDIFACT).
Proficiency with EDI translators/middleware (e.g., TrueCommerce, Cleo, SPS Commerce, Boomi, or similar).
Experience with Sage X3 data structures, APIs, or import/export processes.
Familiarity with SQL, XML, flat file formats, and data transformation tools.
Understanding of AS2, SFTP, and VAN communication protocols.
Exceptional attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities across technical and business teams.
Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and partner relationships simultaneously.
