Job Posting: Bridge Construction Engineer (Specialist) Department of Transportation — Senior Bridge Engineer (Specialist) Location: San Mateo County, Pacifica, CA. Position may be filled from this recruitment. Salary: $11,437.00 – $14,315.00 per month. Final Filing Date: 11/12/2025. The Division of Engineering Services (DES), Structure Construction (SC), is recruiting to fill a Senior Bridge Engineer (Specialist) position. The incumbent reports to a Supervising Bridge Engineer and provides expertise and management in meeting project delivery commitments, training program goals, and workload/resource management. Acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Quality Management Representative within the Office. May assist on project oversight services for local program projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Classification: SENIOR BRIDGE ENGINEER Minimum qualifications are as stated in the Class Specification. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state-owned or leased vehicle. Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required and must be submitted with the State Application. The SOQ should be typed, single-spaced, 12-point font, and no more than two (2) pages in length. Cover letters and resumes do not substitute for the SOQ. See Special Requirements for SOQ instructions.

SOQ must address knowledge and experience in bridge construction methods, project development processes, procedures, and resource management. Demonstrate experience in training Structure Construction field staff in bridge construction and related documents management. Demonstrate knowledge and experience in Structure Construction Quality Management. Demonstrate effective communication skills (oral and written). Demonstrate ability to establish partnerships with districts and external partners, with an example of positive outcomes.

Minimum qualifications will be verified prior to interview/appointment. For eligibility based on education, unofficial transcripts/diplomas must be provided for verification.
