Join GGC and contribute to shaping the lives and achievements of our students. Job Summary The Department Chair position is a faculty-ranked, 12-month administrative role. The department chair works with the Dean to ensure the smooth functioning of the health sciences program. Responsibilities include teaching (half-time), maintaining scholarly activity, student engagement, service, and departmental leadership. The chair must effectively manage course scheduling, budgets, personnel, facilities, lead curriculum development, cultivate external partnerships, and carry out other leadership functions. The position requires the ability to engage with GGC’s global student population. This role reports directly to the Dean of the School of Health Sciences. Responsibilities

Essential Function 1: Assign faculty teaching duties and complete the schedule of classes, practicum rotations, and labs in collaboration with faculty and staff Essential Function 2: Complete annual evaluations of faculty and staff direct reports Essential Function 3: Coordinate and supervise faculty searches (both full-time and part-time) Essential Function 4: Coordinate program-level assessment initiatives Essential Function 5: Recommend and coordinate personnel actions (e.g., academic leave, promotion, merit raises, appointment reset, appointment renewal) to the Dean Essential Function 6: Manage student issues, grade appeals, complaints, petitions, and faculty issues in accordance with SHS faculty and student handbooks and GGC Administrative Policy Manual Required Qualifications

Doctoral degree in public health, health sciences, or related field Relevant academic administrative experience; preference for at least three years of academic leadership experience at the program level or higher A record of effective teaching, service, student engagement, and scholarly activity within the candidate's area of specialization Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, including a well-developed sense of fairness and integrity Record of excellence in teaching, service, student engagement, and scholarship/creative activities Effective oral and written communication skills Collegial with faculty, staff, and students Preferred Qualifications

3-5 years of experience in higher education Proficiency with D2L Learning Management System, Banner INB, and Microsoft Office Background in Public Health, Health Administration, or Health Promotion USG Core Values
