The WSS Communications and Events team needs an experienced, dynamic and creative Executive Communications Director. In this role, you will report to the Senior Director of WSS Comms & Events and will be responsible for leading both external and internal communications for some of our leaders. You will work directly with the leaders and their Chiefs of Staff, and members of their LT teams to drive business impact and thought leadership. This is a strategic role that provides significant opportunity for executive visibility, cross-team collaboration, a breadth of communication experience and business impact.

Responsibilities

Develop communications strategy for leaders and drive execution and scale of plans to deliver business impact and help increase sales pipeline

Develop core messaging and narrative to bring the mission and business priorities to life through dynamic storytelling

Demonstrate strategic leadership by driving impactful messaging for the business, aligning with the company mission, strategy, leadership principles and cultural attributes

Act as single-point-of-contact for any internal or external speaking, traditional and social media requests for the leaders — partnering with appropriate teams to triage, ensure alignment to strategy and priorities, and maintain appropriate positioning and tone for executive engagement

Create and align communications plans to RoB and broader communications

Drive and execute a thoughtful social media strategy

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Business, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 6+ years in Communications, Marketing Operations, Field Operations, Program Management, Project Management, or related experience OR equivalent experience

7+ years of executive/internal communications experience, marketing communications or speech management

Experience leading project teams and working with senior executives in fast-paced, high-pressure environments

Experience with strategic planning, business acumen, and flawless execution, with a focus on precision and attention to detail

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, leveraging storytelling to simplify complex concepts and provide clear, actionable recommendations for diverse audiences

Additional or Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 6+ years of related experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 8+ years of related experience

4+ years specialized functional experience (e.g., retail, technology)

Familiarity with the tech industry and Microsoft’s strategy, product and service offerings, and company culture

Executive presence, ability to take on big challenges, advocate a position, build a business case, and influence others

Collaborative, cross-functional work style with strong independence

Interpersonal and conflict resolution skills; understands social media amplification for leader voices

Demonstrates high integrity, excellent judgement and discretion with confidential information

Compensation and Benefits

Communications IC5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $251,900 per year. A different range applies to specific locations (San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area): USD $165,600 - $272,300 per year.
