Job Description:
Title: House Manager & Family Assistant (with Meal Prep Support) Employment Type: Part-time (15 hours/week) Location: Westfield, NJ 07090 Proposed Start Date: ASAP Compensation: $25-$30/hour depending on experience
Proposed Schedule:
Tuesday–Thursday: 5 hours per day, flexible start/end time
Occasional flexibility required for school pick-ups (1–2 times per week around 3:00 PM)
About the Family We are a lively family of four with two children, ages 13 and 10, and a playful 5-year-old Bernedoodle. Our home is energetic and fast-paced, with both parents juggling demanding careers. One parent is a multiple business owner, while the other works out of the home 3 days per week. We are looking for a team member who can bring structure and meal prep support to our busy household. A key part of this role will involve assisting with meal preparation of healthy, family-friendly meals for breakfast, school lunches for the kids, and dinner. Our days are often full making it important to have someone help us stay organized and manage our daily lives to keep things moving.
Who We’re Looking For We are seeking a friendly, energetic, and self-starting individual who can jump into various household tasks with ease and initiative. This person should be highly organized, able to stay on top of multiple tasks without much oversight, and be open to feedback. You should be capable of handling household responsibilities and meal prep for the family, as well as organizing various tasks as they arise.
Key Responsibilities
Meal Planning & Preparation
Plan and prep healthy, family-friendly meals/dinners (Monday-Thursday) with a focus on high protein, high fiber, and clean ingredients (paleo-style)
Prepare batch meals for the week, including breakfast items (e.g., egg bites, overnight oats, pancakes, etc.)
Pack school lunches and prep snacks for the next day/week
Clean kitchen post-prep and maintain kitchen tidiness
Household Management & Organization
Maintain organization systems for closets, pantry, storage, etc.
Reset and tidy rooms daily, ensuring home is ready for cleaning services (bi-weekly)
Supervise and coordinate with service providers/vendors (e.g., handymen, cleaners) as needed
Light daily cleaning: load/unload dishwasher, wipe surfaces, vacuum high-traffic areas
Inventory Management & Errands
Track and restock pantry, fridge, toiletries, and household supplies
Manage household shopping lists and coordinate delivery orders (Amazon, Costco, Whole Foods, etc.)
Run errands: grocery shopping, returns, dry cleaning, gift shopping
Handle mail sorting, package pickup, and deliveries
Laundry & Linen Care
Wash, dry, fold, and organize family laundry (clothing, bedding, towels) but allowing children to develop executive functioning skills by putting away in their respective rooms.
Iron/steam clothes as needed
Manage linens: rotate bedding, refresh towels, and restock essentials
Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked
Pet Care
Wash dog bowls and ensure they are cleaned in the dishwasher
Feed and walk the family dog, 5-year old Bernedoodle as needed
Coordinate dog grooming appointments when needed; assisting with pick-up and/or drop-off
Keep pet supplies stocked and organized
Vendor & Property Oversight
Schedule and supervise service providers (e.g., cleaners, landscapers) as needed
Oversee outdoor spaces: e.g., cleaning off outdoor table, clearing leaves, and tidying outdoor furniture to ensure the space is ready for use
Family Support & Child Assistance
Assist with occasional school pick-ups (around 3:00 PM) (1-2 times/week)
Provide light supervision or support for children as needed
Deep Cleaning & Special Projects
Help with special projects: organizing storage areas, organizing or preparing seasonal decorations, gear rotation, and family photos into albums and scanning for preservation
