Payroll Manager – Shelton, CT Kforce has a client that is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead and optimize payroll operations across a multi‑state, multi‑site organization on a 6‑12‑month contract position. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, enjoys process improvement, and values collaboration across HR, Finance, and other departments.

Base pay range $55.00/hr - $65.00/hr

Responsibilities

Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and local laws

Lead payroll process improvements and documentation

Manage payroll integration for acquisitions and new hires

Oversee payroll transactions, reporting, and off‑cycle payments

Collaborate with HR and Finance for data accuracy

Support 401(k) administration and audit readiness

Requirements

Extensive experience managing payroll across multiple locations and jurisdictions (7+ years preferred)

Hands‑on experience with ADP platforms (EV5/EV6) and time‑tracking tools

Deep understanding of payroll systems, financial workflows, and regulatory compliance

Skilled in Excel and familiar with Microsoft Office suite

Highly organized with a sharp eye for detail and a strong sense of urgency

Excellent communicator with a proactive approach to solving problems

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
