Overview A leading healthcare organization is seeking a qualified

Medical Physicist

to join its

Radiation Oncology Department . This position supports all aspects of therapeutic radiological physics, including quality assurance, radiation safety, treatment planning verification, and brachytherapy services. The ideal candidate will ensure all physics functions and operations comply with state and federal regulatory standards while collaborating closely with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists to deliver the highest quality of patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Perform

quality assurance and control

on radiation oncology equipment (linear accelerators, HDR, CT simulators, and treatment planning systems).

Collaborate with physicians and dosimetrists to ensure

accurate and safe delivery

of prescribed radiation doses.

Conduct

weekly chart reviews

for all active radiation oncology patients and document findings.

Assist with

brachytherapy procedures

and dose calculations, including HDR and prostate seed implantations.

Participate in specialized treatment procedures such as

SRS, SBRT, TBI, and respiratory gating .

Support the department’s

Quality Improvement Program , reviewing maintenance, equipment downtime, and documentation accuracy.

Ensure compliance with

state and federal radiation safety regulations , maintaining all required documentation.

Monitor staff radiation exposure and provide education related to

radiation protection and safety .

Maintain strong communication and collaboration with the Chief Medical Physicist and Radiation Safety Officer.

Qualifications Required:

Master’s degree in

Medical Physics

or a related field.

ABR certification

(or eligibility) in Therapeutic Medical Physics.

Current

CPR certification .

Preferred:

Minimum of

3 years of clinical experience

in radiation oncology physics.

Prior experience in

HDR brachytherapy

and

prostate seed implantation .

Familiarity with

SRS/SBRT techniques

and treatment planning systems.

Proficiency in

radiation therapy physics ,

QA/QC protocols , and

dosimetry principles .

Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a multidisciplinary clinical setting.

Commitment to patient safety, ethical practice, and continuous improvement.

Working Conditions

Exposure to

radioactive materials

and

ionizing radiation

in compliance with safety standards.

May require occasional lifting of equipment (up to 50 lbs) and extended periods of standing or computer work.
