Pay Range Base pay range: $53,764.00/yr - $85,138.00/yr.
Responsibilities Under the direction of a higher‑level Research Scientist, the Assistant Research Scientist or Research Scientist 1 will work in the Newborn Screening Program’s Tandem Mass Spectrometry (MS/MS) laboratory. Primary tasks include learning sample processing and testing for the primary screening tests, and learning sample evaluation, handling processes, and screening tests for galactosemia and Biotinidase.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Assistant Research Scientist (G14): Bachelor’s or higher degree in the natural sciences and one year of professional research experience in an appropriate field. (Substitution: 30 graduate hours leading to an advanced degree in an appropriate field can be substituted.)
Research Scientist 1 (G18): Bachelor’s degree in the natural sciences and two years of professional research experience in an appropriate field. (Substitution: Master’s degree can substitute for one year, doctorate for an additional year.)
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of biochemistry and genetics; mass spectrometry or other analytical testing experience; strong Excel skills; excellent written and verbal communication.

Permanent, non‑competitive, full‑time position.
