Sr. Manager, Platform Engineering, Workday (Workday Security) at Capital One
The Workday Senior Manager, Platform Engineering will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of security and reporting measures to protect Capital One’s Workday environment. This role involves working closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Workday applications and data. The Senior Manager will act as a subject matter expert in Workday security and reporting, providing strategic guidance and technical expertise. They will also lead Workday change management efforts to ensure all changes to the platform follow our standard operating procedures and result in a well‑managed platform for all users.
Key Responsibilities
Security and Reporting Implementation: Lead the design, implementation, and management of security and reporting controls for the Workday environment, ensuring configurations and reports are robust and effective.
Risk Assessment: Lead regular security assessments and SOX audits to identify vulnerabilities and risks within the Workday environment; collaborate with the risk management team to develop and implement mitigation strategies.
Access Management: Lead the implementation and management of role‑based access controls (RBAC) to ensure appropriate access levels for users.
Incident Response: Lead the investigation and response to security incidents related to the Workday environment; conduct root‑cause analyses and drive remediation efforts.
Policy Adherence: Ensure compliance with internal security policies and industry best practices; contribute to the development and maintenance of security policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Collaboration: Work closely with IT, HR, Finance, and other business units to understand security requirements and integrate security measures into business processes; provide technical leadership and guidance to stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about the latest security trends, technologies, and best practices; proactively suggest and drive improvements to enhance the security and reporting posture of the Workday environment.
SOX Compliance: Support SOX audit activities by ensuring Workday security controls are in place and functioning as intended; prepare documentation and evidence to demonstrate compliance with SOX requirements.
Change Management: Manage the ongoing change management process that ensures all changes to the Workday platform have proper documentation, testing evidence, and approvals; continuously evaluate opportunities to streamline and enhance the process.
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification.
At least 8 years of experience with Workday functional configuration (Core HCM, Security, and Reporting).
At least 4 years of experience in a technical leadership role overseeing strategic projects.
Preferred Qualifications
9+ years of experience in Workday security administration.
2+ years of experience configuring SSO with Workday using SAML 2.0 and integrating with enterprise identity providers.
Workday Pro Certification in HCM.
Workday Pro Certification in Security.
1+ year of experience with Workday Financials security module.
2+ years of experience in Agile practices.
