Director of Construction We are seeking a Director of Construction to oversee the construction and project management of Aypa Power’s energy storage and hybrid projects. This position will manage construction of multiple assets across several markets, each with unique commercial and contractual obligations. Experience managing and directing construction of utility‑scale power plants, especially battery energy storage systems, is required.
Responsibilities
Lead construction management and project management for Aypa’s portfolio of energy storage and hybrid projects, coordinating tasks and deliverables among team, suppliers, and stakeholders.
Coordinate installation and commissioning of project equipment with EPC vendors, OEMs, and sub‑contractors.
Contribute to the long‑term project management strategy, using standards and techniques to manage, direct, and own projects.
Report key performance indicators monthly to the broader management team.
Manage relationships with EPC, OEM, O&M, and EMS providers, serving as the primary point of contact for project execution activities.
Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate projects under construction into operations.
Administer warranty claims, manage contractual deviations, mitigate risks, and prevent scope creep.
Support construction contract structuring, negotiation, and execution with EPC vendors.
Develop and track project budgets for capex and construction with finance teams.
Ensure projects are delivered within budget, schedule, and without lost time incidents.
Oversee regulatory and compliance standards (ISO, OSHA, NEC, NFPA) and maintain site feasibility, installation, and commissioning standards.
Track lessons learned and support continuous improvement for high‑quality project delivery.
Provide input into company business plans and execution strategies.
Key Qualifications
Minimum seven (7) years of construction experience for utility‑scale renewable or energy storage plants.
Minimum five (5) years of project management experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Broad technical base covering production, process, logistics, and design concepts for renewables and energy storage systems.
Field experience in installation and commissioning activities as part of construction management.
Familiarity with field operations, service, and maintenance is a plus.
Experience with utility‑scale power projects in California.
Project construction experience in at least two of: ERCOT, CAISO, PJM, and NYISO preferred.
Customer‑focused, uses critical reasoning and judgment in a fast‑paced environment.
Proactive work ethic and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under pressure.
Compensation and Location
Salary : Base salary commensurate with experience.
Bonus : Annual bonus based on individual performance and overall business success.
