Encore Boston Harbor features 210,000 square feet of gaming space including more than 3,000 slot machines and 240 table games. Situated on the Mystic River in Everett, Massachusetts, and connected to Boston Harbor, the resort boasts 671 spacious hotel rooms, a spa, salon and fitness center, specialty retail shops, 15 dining and lounge venues, and more than 50,000 square feet of ballroom and meeting space. Job Summary The Restaurant Manager will oversee the daily operations of a designated restaurant, ensuring staffing, labor management, ordering, inventory, guest service, and food and beverage execution adhere to Encore standards and enhance the experience of guests and team members alike.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure all Encore Boston Harbor core values, property, and department standards are implemented and applied.
Manage short‑ and long‑term departmental goals, policies, and procedures; monitor operational effectiveness; implement changes for continuous improvement. Identify key drivers of success.
Maintain accuracy and confidentiality of departmental policies, procedures, records, and reports.
Oversee performance of team members within the department.
Enforce all internal policies, federal and state laws, regulations, and controls across the property.
Deliver maximum levels of service and satisfaction to guests.
Facilitate communication throughout the property by scheduling and leading regular meetings with department and cross‑department teams.
Handle hiring, performance management, and employee engagement; provide training, feedback, and create a motivating environment.
Stay informed of new developments and recommend actions to maximize departmental and company success.
Manage internal and external guest relations with patience, tact, and diplomacy; resolve guest and team member issues appropriately.
Manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet deadlines in high‑pressure situations.
Promote positive, fair, and ethical relations with all team members, contractors, and community stakeholders as an ambassador of the Encore brand.
Implement standards detailed in departmental manuals and ensure staff follow opening and closing procedures.
Maintain appropriate environmental conditions—sound, lighting, temperature—and conduct shift briefings for VIPs, specials, product features, and property events.
Encourage and motivate staff to provide optimum service during all shifts.
Share guest feedback and recommendations with the General or Director of Restaurants.
Resolve guest complaints and staff difficulties.
Prioritize safety and follow department and company safety standards.
Pursue continuing education and training to stay current in the industry.
Perform any other job‑related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum age of 21 and ability to obtain and maintain a registration/license issued by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
Must obtain an alcohol awareness card.
High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in hospitality or related field preferred.
Minimum five (5) years of full‑service restaurant experience with at least three (3) years in a leadership role.
Proficient computer skills, including POS systems, purchasing software, warehouse requisition software, time‑keeping software, and Microsoft Office.
Experience in planning and project management.
Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills with strong attention to detail.
Preference for experience in union and non‑union work environments.
Fluency in English required; second language a plus. Ability to read, analyze, and respond to documents and inquiries, write detailed instructions, and present information clearly.
Basic mathematical skills for calculations and report analysis.
Physical Demands Regular tasks include speaking, hearing, standing, walking, sitting, handling objects or controls, reaching, bending, kneeling, and lifting or moving up to 30 pounds. Moderate physical activity is required throughout the shift.
Work Environment The work environment features moderate to loud noise levels, especially in kitchen and back‑of‑house areas. Applicants must be able to work varying schedules and maintain professionalism with guests and staff.
