EDF Trading North America, LLC is a major participant in wholesale energy markets and delivers customized energy solutions for customers across the continent. The Credit team is responsible for managing all aspects of credit risk mitigation, including researching and analyzing counterparties, negotiating credit terms, and monitoring credit exposures.

Main Responsibilities

Perform financial statement analysis to assess the creditworthiness of trading and retail counterparties and recommend appropriate tenor and credit limits.

Review credit requests for extended or new terms and propose actions based on EDFES’s credit policy.

Present financial analysis and credit modeling results to management as part of the credit approval process.

Negotiate credit terms in master trading, retail agreements, and structured transactions (e.g., lock‑box arrangements, lien based structures, depository control agreements).

Monitor, investigate, and report limit breaches.

Manage a credit portfolio, analyzing changes, events, and analytics for upper management.

Provide timely responses to internal and external credit risk queries.

Vet all customers from a Know Your Customer (KYC) perspective.

Requirements & Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience managing counterparty credit risk in energy industry transactions.

Undergraduate degree in an analytical field (accounting, finance, mathematics, etc.); advanced degree, CFA, or CPA is beneficial.

Experience underwriting or exploring production companies and/or reserve‑based entities.

Working knowledge of financial and physical energy trading markets; ISO markets and retail electricity & natural gas markets are preferred.

Advanced financial modeling skills, including Excel, VBA, SQL, etc.

Strong understanding of business processes, controls, and documentation.

High attention to detail and proactive problem‑solving approach.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all business levels and stakeholders.

Highly motivated, able to respond to changing priorities, and a confident team player.

Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
