Overview of the Role The Gunvor Credit Department is a team of specialists responsible for managing Gunvor’s credit exposure with its trading counterparties. Leveraging its extensive expertise in financial, credit and risk analysis, Gunvor Credit ensures that credit exposure to our counterparties is managed within Gunvor’s risk appetite. Given this structure, Gunvor Credit professionals gain diverse financial experience and a broad perspective on how the entire Company functions. The interaction with numerous departments and the range of projects that ensue allow for a challenging, varied and multi-dimensional work environment.

Main Responsibilities
Evaluate and analyze counterparty’s creditworthiness and prepare/present in-depth credit limit recommendation and analysis.
Manage a portfolio of transactions of various energy commodities and products to ensure Gunvor has perfected its security interests and in compliance with borrowing base reporting requirements.
Monitor, manage, and provide reports to management on working capital, exposure and counterparty business performance.
Monitor on a daily basis the operational risks and processes of Company’s counterparties.
Perform periodic audits of counterparties through site visits.
Liaison with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
Evaluate other risk mitigating tools such as credit insurance, lockbox, silent cover, etc.
Coordinate with Commercial, Legal, Operations, and Compliance to fully analyse transactions and ensure appropriate documentation, risk mitigants, and limits.
Perform economic/financial research in order to assess portfolio concentrations and trends.
Evaluate company’s financial performance compared to overall industry and market trends.
Assist new transactions proposed by business units and articulate the credit risk view with respect to its creditworthiness and conformity to Company policies and procedures.
Secondary Responsibilities
Counterparty on-boarding – Provide support to properly onboard new trading counterparties.
Credit Operations – Provide support in the day‑to‑day operations of managing trading counterparties.
Collateral Management – Provide support to keep track of both incoming and outgoing l/c’s, prepayments and other forms of collateral. Develop a strong understanding of margin calls and which counterparties have margining agreements.
Reporting – Generate periodic reports for Credit.
Credit infrastructure/systems – Support and learn in‑house systems including credit systems to help streamline operations.
Profile / Key Skills
Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience with emphasis in accounting/finance/banking.
At least five (5) years of experience in physical and financial gas and power markets.
Knowledge of the operational nature of energy commodities.
Strong business acumen.
Negotiation skills.
Strategic mindset.
Solid communication skills.
Time management.
Excellent interpersonal skills and rapport to deal internally and with counterparties.
Excellent analytical and financial skills.
Strong documentation, analytical, presentational and communication skills required.
Ability to work under pressure in a rapidly changing environment in order to meet deadlines.
PC skills with a solid understanding of spreadsheet applications; Microsoft Word and Excel.
Strong organizational skills.
