Job Description The Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Physiology at the University of South Florida has established a regional and national reputation in physiological research. The candidate will work closely with the Department, Hypertension and Kidney Research Center, and the Heart Institute to expand the University’s research academic missions. The position will be based on 100% research effort.
Responsibilities
Conduct cardiovascular and mitochondrial research using physiological, biochemical, and cell biological approaches.
Ensure compliance with research policies and procedures.
Participate in the development of grant submissions.
Review previous research and external research papers.
Establish experimental hypotheses, design experiments, and develop research methodology.
Accurately collect and analyze data gathered in research experiments and interpret data using statistical methodology.
Prepare, write, and present papers for publication.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. or equivalent in biophysics, physiology, or related field.
High-level qualifications and in-depth knowledge in at least two of the following areas: cardiovascular research, cardiac electrophysiology, cardiac excitation‑contraction coupling, and/or mitochondrial biology.
Experience in leading or supporting basic science research.
Publication track record of successful research.
Preferred Qualifications:
Cellular electrophysiology, live cell imaging, electron microscopy.
Cell culture and maintenance of human iPSC‑derived cardiomyocytes and cell lines; protein immunoprecipitation and qPCR.
Familiarity with laboratory technologies including cardiovascular disease animal models, in vivo cardiac function measurements, and live cell imaging using confocal microscopes.
Generation, verification, and maintenance of transgenic animal lines.
