Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a highly motivated Post Doctoral Associate for the School of Public Health (SPH). The candidate will collaborate on an NIH‑funded quantitative study on the impact of homelessness and housing services on maternal and infant health, working under the direct supervision of project principal investigators (PIs) Drs. Mark McGovern and Dan Treglia and within a growing research team that has a strong publication and funding track record. The project focuses on health equity and aims to use advanced quantitative methods to identify how housing policy can address health disparities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under direction of the PIs, lead data management and analysis of a linked administrative dataset comprised of New Jersey birth and hospital records, Medicaid claims, and housing service records.
Implement quasi‑experimental and causal inference methods in these data and assemble and summarize relevant literature.
Develop an independent research program in maternal and child health and/or housing and homelessness policy.
Manage databases, develop analytical plans, and carry out statistical analysis for manuscripts, reports, and presentations using Stata (preferred) or R.
Lead, draft, and publish papers in peer‑reviewed journals.
Give oral presentations to disseminate research findings at national and international conferences.
Collaborate on grant proposal development.
The position will have a start date between January and July 2026, depending on project needs and the chosen candidate. Initial term of appointment is two years contingent on performance and is renewable contingent on continued funding and satisfactory performance.

Salary Details Salary offered may be determined by candidate’s qualifications, experience, and grant availability. The University is committed to offering competitive and flexible compensation packages. The base salary range is $75,000 to $200,000, with a typical mid‑range of $90,000.

Qualifications
Doctorate/terminal degree (e.g., PhD, ScD) in a quantitative field relevant to population health, including but not limited to Economics, Demography, Quantitative Sociology, Health Policy, Public Policy, Biostatistics, Statistics, or Health Services Research.
Applicants in All But Degree (ABD) status will be considered for interviewing.
Knowledge of and demonstrated interest in social determinants of health.
Excellent data management and analysis skills.
Experience with quasi‑experimental and causal inference methods.
Advanced proficiency in Stata (preferred) or R, and ability to work with large complex data sets.
Ability to efficiently prioritize and execute projects independently and efficiently, with attention to detail.
Track record of first‑authored peer‑reviewed publications (as appropriate for level of experience and field of study).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Team player, with experience in collaborative and interdisciplinary research.
