You will be a Senior Engineer for the Fighter System Safety Team. Our team is a specialty engineering organization that is tasked with executing a System Safety program to identify and control safety hazards to an acceptable risk. System Safety programs ensure safe operations across the entire enterprise (operations, maintenance, heavy maintenance, support equipment, etc.) are maintained using MIL-STD-882 as guidance. Responsibilities
Perform analyses for hazard identification, evaluation and control using quantitative and qualitative techniques typical of aircraft weapon system and sustainment design. Lead System Safety Analyses including Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), System Safety Analysis (SSA), and others. Conduct qualitative and quantitative hazard analyses to perform risk assessments and trade studies that evaluate design choices and recommend controls to mitigate safety hazards. Coordinate system safety activities with design teams, suppliers, internal management and external customers. Support System Safety Engineering efforts for F-35 aircraft and assist with the development and execution of the System Safety Program Plan. Understand adjacent disciplines to foster efficient collaboration and trade‑offs supporting all program objectives. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related engineering field. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience communicating cross‑functionally. Experience with and knowledge of System Safety analyses, standards, and tools. Experience leading projects and teams. Desired Skills
Experience with Software Development in the aviation/military industry. Military or civilian flight experience. Knowledge of MIL‑STD‑882, MIL‑HDBK‑516, ARP‑4761, and/or ARP‑4754. Knowledge of FAA and military regulations and processes. Previous experience writing technical reports on complex subject matters. Experience with military or government programs. Knowledge of statistical analysis methods. Model‑based system engineering (MBSE) training or experience. Experience working with international customers and suppliers. Full life‑cycle experience with system safety analyses, standards, and tools. Ability to operate autonomously with minimal direction from senior management. Demonstrated ability to lead projects and teams in resolving highly complex issues, including direct interaction with senior leadership and managing complex customer and supplier relationships. Experience with software safety requirements across the full development lifecycle from hazard identification through development to system/software qualification testing. Security Clearance
