Controls Engineer II

to design, program, and implement control systems for advanced semiconductor and industrial process equipment. This role focuses on developing automation logic, safety systems, and intuitive user interfaces that drive complex electromechanical systems.

Base pay range: $80,000.00/yr - $125,000.00/yr

Key Responsibilities

Develop and debug PLC programs using IEC 61131-3 structured text, primarily with Beckhoff TwinCAT platforms.

Design and implement HMI/GUI interfaces following ISA-101 and SEMI E-95 standards for operator usability.

Create detailed control documentation, including interlocks, control loops, and alarm logic.

Specify and troubleshoot industrial communication systems such as EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, and IO-Link.

Configure servers, networks, and external database connections for OPC-UA, SQL, or historian systems.

Program and verify safety control logic consistent with HAZOP specifications and risk assessments.

Collaborate on control panel design, instrumentation selection, and automation hardware configuration.

Support system commissioning, software releases, and on-site startup at customer and internal facilities.

Apply version control and software release best practices for industrial automation environments.

Work closely with process and R&D teams to enhance performance and ease of operation for production equipment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.

2–4 years of experience in controls programming and equipment automation.

Proficiency in Beckhoff TwinCAT structured text programming; experience with Ignition, Allen-Bradley Studio 5000, or Python preferred.

Hands‑on experience developing PLC logic, HMI systems, and integrated automation for production or lab equipment.

Knowledge of industrial motion control, including VFDs, actuators, and servo systems.

Familiarity with ISA-88, ISA-101, SEMI S2, SEMI E-95, and IEC 61131-3 standards.

Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for electrical and software systems.

Excellent communication and organizational abilities for working in cross‑functional engineering environments.
