Overview Responsibilities include delivering the Commodities strategy for the Americas and leading the development and execution of the regional Commodities franchise across Base, Energy, Agri and Precious product suites. The role involves working with clients, relationship managers, and product partners to drive revenue growth and market leadership in the region.

Responsibilities Strategy

Responsible for the delivery of the Commodities strategy for the Americas.

Includes supporting the Global Head of Commodity Sales in developing and implementing the Commodities strategy for clients in the region.

Develop a portfolio of directly covered clients, agreed with head of Commodity Sales.

Grow across all commodities asset classes including energy, metals (base & precious) and agricultural commodities.

Revenues linked to financing solutions & structured inventory products.

Drive the Commodities digital agenda.

Deliver ambitious Commodities FM revenue and growth targets in the region.

Define focus accounts and ensure proper allocation of resources, intensity of coverage, innovative value-add solutions, wallet share targeting and account planning.

Leverage partners in client coverage, industries, research, trading, structuring and analytics to support the client-led strategy.

Champion Standard Chartered as a centre of excellence for the Commodities product, through active marketing of knowledge and brand in the Americas, including conferences, webinars and articles/journals with marketing support.

As a Commodity Salesperson

Develop relationships with the client’s key decision makers through calls, trade ideas and relevant insights to support decision-making in commodities risk management.

Deliver individual PnL targets in accordance with P3 objectives.

Work closely with relationship managers to grow existing client relationships and originate new ones for the bank.

Maintain an up-to-date account plan for FM Commodity products for each client using market data to target wallet growth and communicate opportunities to product partners.

Contribute to sales planning and targeting processes through proactive participation in regular sales team meetings.

Collaborate with FM Commodity Specialist teams globally to identify client opportunities across the bank’s footprint.

Identify and execute cross-sell opportunities with local FM generalist teams.

Ensure appropriate returns for the commodities franchise and specific client relationships in collaboration with generalist sales teams.

Business

Establish a market-leading franchise in the Americas.

Strengthen the Bank’s relationships with Americas clients through marketing and sales of FM Commodity products.

Develop the Commodities franchise across the region to become a market leader (top 5) across Base, Energy, Agri and Precious products.

Collaborate with Relationship Managers and product sales specialists to deepen wallet penetration.

Lead the team to increase revenue generation and develop skilled originators for senior-level client discussions and internal stakeholder management.

Processes

Liaise with clients and execute trades in line with SCB policy and procedures, including Order Handling, Record Keeping and Best Execution.

Ensure frameworks and operational infrastructure support efficient, compliant business processes.

Monitor client trading limits and obtain approvals for excess where needed.

Provide best-in-class service to build and maintain financial markets relationships.

Take responsibility for the global FM Commodities relationship for key clients where appropriate, coordinating with regional teams to build the global franchise.

Maintain updated account plans to identify growth opportunities and create action plans accordingly.

Engage proactively with clients and deliver timely market intelligence.

Take ownership of service delivery within financial markets, including support functions such as operations.

Coordinate with operations regarding client feedback to improve service delivery.

Respond promptly to client requests for specific transactions, general advice, or cross-sell opportunities.

Assist in setting up infrastructure to facilitate dealing (book platform, monitoring, approvals, etc.).

Align with financial market themes and risk books to optimize RoRWA/ROE.

Lead through example and foster the appropriate culture and values, collaborating with risk and control partners.

Mentor junior colleagues and share experiences and expertise.

Communicate vision, priorities and progress to the business to foster engagement and motivation.

Contribute to continuous process improvement and share best practices.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s and Master’s qualifications.

Training: Degree-level qualification; a combination of technical (derivatives pricing) and business/finance qualifications is advantageous.

Strong understanding of commodities markets from pricing through settlement and trading.

Proficiency in data analysis using Excel.

Client-facing experience in commodities markets.

Keen awareness of market dynamics and institutional client relationships.

Understanding of technology such as Murex, S2BX.

Languages: English; no specific requirement for other languages.

Licenses: FCA certified person; CFTC authorized person.

Compensation & Benefits Expected annual base pay range for the role is 256,000 USD to 416,000 USD. The final offer will be determined on an individualised basis. Base pay is part of total compensation which may include discretionary variable pay and a range of benefits including health, retirement, family building, and flexible working arrangements where applicable.
