Director of Nursing – Substance Use Disorder Services

What You’ll Do As the Director of Nursing for Substance Use Disorder Services, you will oversee the clinical and administrative operations of BHN’s detox and recovery programs. You will lead and mentor a team of nursing professionals, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality care in alignment with BHN’s mission and state regulatory standards. You’ll also play a key role in developing and implementing best practices in addiction treatment, medication-assisted recovery, and integrated behavioral health care.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all nursing operations across assigned SUD programs, ensuring compliance with DPH, CARF, and Joint Commission standards
Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and professional development for nursing staff
Collaborate with program directors, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care delivery
Manage staffing, scheduling, and performance evaluation for nursing personnelEnsure adherence to medication management, infection control, and quality assurance protocols
Support implementation of evidence‑based practices and trauma‑informed care models
Participate in audits, policy development, and continuous improvement initiatives
Serve as a resource for crisis intervention, risk management, and clinical consultation

Who You Are
Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in Massachusetts (required)
Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 3 in a supervisory or leadership capacity (required)
Experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder, or addiction treatment (strongly preferred)
Knowledge of DPH and CARF regulations, infection control, and nursing quality standards
Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
