What You’ll Do
Design and Enhance Dashboards
– Develop and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and data models that track firmwide financial performance, key performance indicators (KPIs), and strategic initiatives.
Design Power BI Data Models
– Build data models off of relational databases, including the Finance data mart, enterprise data warehouse, and source systems.
Optimize Data Models
– Write, refine, and troubleshoot complex Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) calculations for use across teams to ensure accuracy, scalability, and efficiency across large, multi-source datasets.
Partner with Leadership
– Collaborate with senior finance leaders, department heads, and executives to translate business needs into robust, visually compelling analytics and reports.
Deliver High-Impact Insights
– Prioritize and rapidly produce dashboards or ad hoc reports for leadership and board-level presentations.
Streamline Data Operations
– Work cross-functionally with Information Technology (IT) and Finance teams to ensure clean data flows, consistent logic, and reliable performance across systems.
Champion Best Practices
– Monitor and enhance dashboard performance, implement optimization techniques, and manage Power BI Service administration.
Lead and Mentor
– Serve as a Power BI and DAX subject matter expert within the Finance teams, mentoring junior analysts and shaping firmwide business intelligence (BI) standards.
Automate Reporting
– Support the automation of recurring financial and operational reports, improving accuracy and reducing manual work.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or related field with 5+ years of experience in financial analytics or business intelligence roles, preferably in a professional services or law firm environment.
Technical Mastery
– Expert-level proficiency in DAX, including time intelligence, complex measure creation, and performance optimization.
Financial Acumen
– Strong understanding of financial statements, KPIs, and business performance metrics, with the ability to connect insights to business outcomes.
Executive Communication
– Excellent communication skills and proven success presenting data-driven insights to senior leadership.
Adaptability and Drive
– Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, pivot quickly, and deliver results under tight deadlines.
Technology Skills
– Advanced experience with Power BI (data modeling, Power Query, relationships, row-level security, and Power BI Service deployment), SQL, Excel, and enterprise financial systems such as Coupa, PeopleSoft, or Concur.
Compensation The base salary range for this position in Chicago is $120,000 - $135,000. May vary based on location and experience.
