Product Engineering is a unified team responsible for the engineering of Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms, including product engineering, media engineering, quality assurance, personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity.
Responsibilities
Lead project or feature development: oversee architecture, collaborate with platform and backend leads, break down tasks into tickets, communicate status and risks, manage coding, PR reviews, and testing.
Collaborate with QA and Automation Team.
Interact with Product Development team to review requirements and discuss feature development.
Basic Qualifications
7+ years hands‑on professional experience with Android development.
Expertise in object‑oriented, functional, and functional‑reactive patterns.
Knowledge of Android app development lifecycle, Google Play and Amazon App Store policies.
Experience with a significant consumer app currently available in the marketplace.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to operate as a resource to other Software Engineers, fostering cross‑team knowledge sharing.
Preferred Qualifications
Expert understanding of HTTP/S, APIs, and web services.
Expertise with unit test frameworks and CI systems (JUnit, MockK, Espresso).
Solid foundation in dynamic multi‑threaded mobile apps.
Motivated self‑starter, capable of learning and adapting to new technologies.
Ability to collaborate in small and large engineering teams.
Write efficient, reliable, maintainable code for architectural improvements, features, and bug fixes.
Troubleshooting and resolving issues across platforms.
Analyzing and optimizing application code for efficiency, reliability, and performance.
Understanding product architecture and assisting other Software Engineers.
Leading project teams to achieve milestones and objectives.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field.
The hiring range for this position in New York City, NY is $163,100 - $218,700. Compensation includes base pay and may vary based on candidate’s region, skills, etc. Other benefits such as medical, financial, and incentive units are provided.
