The Position The Director of Alternative Models Strategy is responsible for defining the alternative model and specific alternative channel strategies critical to delivering on our overarching objectives. It involves identifying and evaluating partnerships / collaborations, channels, and services to unlock and enhance patient value. Furthermore, it is the responsibility of the Director of Alternative Models Strategy in close collaboration with the Obesity, Diabetes, and MASH team to ensure strategic alignment between our market access and US operations strategy.

Relationships Reports to the Senior Director of Alternative Models. Works closely with senior directors and directors within MAPA, especially in close collaboration with the Obesity, Diabetes, and MASH team. Occasionally partners with MAPA VPs to provide insights and contribute to high‑level discussions. Engages regularly with colleagues across Marketing & Patient Solutions, Executive Office / USO Strategy, Legal, Finance, and other relevant departments. Additionally, interacts daily with Alternative Models’ Director of Strategic Partnership Management and Director of Program Management to ensure coordination and cohesive execution of initiatives.

Essential Functions

Perform in-depth market research and analysis to gain an external perspective on model evolution, access dynamics, and competitive activities

Lead the development of a comprehensive alternative model strategy, including specific channel strategies such as direct‑to‑patient and network expansion, to achieve strategic objectives

Accountable for strategically managing the alternative model to ensure its ongoing evolution in response to the dynamic competitive and market landscape

Lead in the creation of an integrated access care model that unifies care delivery, enhances transparency, and facilitates patient navigation and business balance between traditional and alternative channels

Establish and maintain a comprehensive framework to evaluate pathways and collaborations, including criteria and market assessments

Explore new and innovative revenue opportunities within the alternative model market; develop models to evaluate potential profitability and incremental growth

Assess new opportunities solutions thoroughly to determine their feasibility, viability, and market alignment before scaling

Work closely with MAPA, Marketing, Patient Solutions (MPS), along with other cross‑functional teams, to ensure that alternative model strategies align with MAPA and broader organizational needs

Define KPIs to measure the success and effectiveness of the alternative model strategy, ensuring they align with organizational objectives and provide clear insights for continuous improvement

Establish a process for ongoing monitoring and assessment of strategy performance and market conditions to facilitate continuous evolution, ensuring accountability and timely adjustments

Present clear data‑driven insights and recommendations to inform strategic decision making by relevant leadership

Identify risks to alternative model and pathway strategies, adjusting approaches as necessary to mitigate impacts and ensure alignment with strategic objectives

Facilitate open communication channels to foster collaboration and share insights, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of commercial strategies

Create communication strategies to convey the vision and progress of the alternative model strategy to internal and external stakeholders

Physical Requirements Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Business or equivalent experience. MBA, PharmD, or another advanced degree preferred

A minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in strategy development and strategy execution, with a strong focus on enterprise, commercial strategy, or business development. Experience in diverse sectors, including but not limited to pharmaceuticals, healthcare, CPG, and retail is valuable. An advanced degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience

Demonstrated ability to understand and navigate the interconnected nature of various functional areas, ensuring alignment and coherence across cross functional strategic initiatives

Proficient in analyzing data and market trends, as well as potential collaborations and partnerships, to create compelling business cases for specific initiatives that support strategic objectives and drive actionable insights

Excellent relationship management skills to build and maintain positive relationships with senior leadership representatives as well as with other functions across the organization

Requires leadership skills with the ability to develop and communicate a strategic vision, engaging stakeholders in its execution

Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills for effectively conveying ideas and influencing diverse audiences

Ability to influence various functional areas and motivate teams to action without direct line management authority

Proven capability to lead large, cross‑functional project teams, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and achieving successful outcomes

Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing responsibilities and evolving dynamics within the industry, reflecting a proactive approach to challenges and opportunities

The base compensation range for this position is $181,670 to $317,920. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance.

Novo Nordisk offers long‑term incentive compensation and or company vehicles depending on the position’s level or other company factors.
