Overview

The City of Baltimore’s Department of Finance is seeking a Chief for the Bureau of Accounting and Payroll Services. This position will serve as the Chief Accountant for the City and is a key member of the senior management team in the Department of Finance. This is a non-civil service position with a salary range of $170,000.00 - $190,000.00 annually. Responsibilities

Provide leadership and direction to the City’s financial management and payroll systems, including participating and leading the City of Baltimore\'s continued operationalization of the Workday platform. Develop and execute the strategic vision for the Bureau and the citywide financial impact. Manage a staff of 50+ employees and oversee all city-wide accounting functions and transactions. Oversee the development of the City’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and the A-133 Single Audit. Supervise functional areas including Financial Reporting, Revenue Accounting, Grant Accounting, Financial Control, Project Accounting, and Accounts Receivable. Minimum Qualifications

Education: An advanced degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Management, Law, or related field from an accredited college or university. Experience: At least ten years of progressive accounting experience with five years in a managerial role. Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Additional: Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and practices, auditing, grant accounting, and financial reporting; CPA is preferred. Additional Information

Probation: All selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month probation.
