About Us With over 70 years of combined experience in Building Enclosure Systems and 100+ years in MEP commissioning, LCCx is a specialized team of engineering and architecture professionals providing high-performance Energy Efficiency and Commissioning services to institutional building owners and facility managers. We deliver Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Systems Commissioning, HVAC Test & Balance, and Building Enclosure Commissioning (BECx) with precision, integrity, and customer focus. We pride ourselves on being nimble, hands‑on problem-solvers who understand how to drive results throughout the design, construction, and occupancy lifecycles.
As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Director of BECx who can both do the work and lead the work—someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, brings deep expertise, and wants to grow with a mission‑driven, technically strong team.
Role Summary This is a top-tier opportunity for a seasoned BECx professional (Engineer or Architect) who is ready to lead and advance Building Enclosure Commissioning efforts across multiple large‑scale projects, while also coordinating with MEP and other commissioning activities. The ideal candidate will be a confident doer, a strategic thinker, and a trusted collaborator capable of managing stakeholders, driving quality, and building internal capacity. This role will require technical depth, a strong field presence, and the ability to manage projects and people concurrently. This leader will also play a key role in business development, client strategy, and expanding LCCx’s presence across Texas.
Core Responsibilities
Direct the full lifecycle of BECx delivery from pursuit through warranty phase, ensuring alignment with ASTM E2813, ASHRAE 0, and NIBS 3.
Manage the entire Building Enclosure Commissioning process, ensuring all contract deliverables are met with excellent Client Service.
Conduct design phase reviews (schematic, development, construction) and RFI reviews.
Develop specifications, protocols, and the Functional Testing Matrix, incorporating testing requirements within the specifications.
Perform On Site QA observations and coordinate 3rd Party Field Testing, including observation, verification, and final reporting.
Utilize web‑based Cx Software platforms (Cx Alloy, Facility Grid, BluRythm, etc.).
Maintain good client relationships, interfacing with building owners, contractors, design teams, and trade partners.
Identify non‑conformances, propose solutions, and drive issue resolution.
Prepare commissioning plans, Site Observation Reports, and final project documentation packages.
Contribute to internal knowledge sharing, mentorship, and training.
Represent LCCx as a trusted leader in the BECx space—internally and externally.
Optionally plan, coordinate, and execute functional performance testing for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and control systems.
Assist with building analytics, energy conservation measures (ECMs), and post‑occupancy measurement and verification (M&V) when needed.
Support post‑occupancy services such as seasonal testing, 10‑month warranty walkthroughs, development of Current Facilities Requirements (CFR) Plans, ongoing BECx Plans and O&M Maintenance Plans, and Facility Condition Assessments (FCA).
Ideal Candidate Profile
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Building Science (Master’s a plus).
10+ years of progressively responsible experience in building enclosure design, testing, and commissioning.
Licensed PE, RA, or IIBEC‑certified professional strongly preferred (CBECxP, RRC, RRO, REWC).
Proven ability to lead BECx efforts across complex institutional or commercial projects.
Strong project management skills, including scheduling, time management, managing multiple contracts, and coordinating manpower requirements.
Familiarity with LEED rating system and other relevant commissioning standards (AEGB, ASTM, ASHRAE, NIBS).
Understanding of commissioning tools and platforms.
Willingness to travel regionally (primarily within Texas) up to 25–40% based on project needs.
