Theatre Exile is a nonprofit theater company committed to sparking dialogue that strengthens our community through the development and staging of timely and provocative plays. We are a small team of dedicated individuals who work together to produce high-level theater. We produce challenging plays that explore the complexities of the human condition and contain a sense of true Philadelphia grit and passion. We present both new works as well as established plays often reinterpreted in original ways. We produce a three-production subscription series; a new play development series; an education program that includes outreach and classes; as well as special events. The General Manager plays a critical role in the organization's operations. The GM reports directly to the Producing Artistic Director (PAD). The position includes oversight and coordination of day-to-day operations across the organization. Responsibilities include: General Management:

Demonstrate leadership that ensures the organization's work progresses efficiently and within established timelines. Oversee and facilitate inter-departmental and outside vendor communication and coordination. Work with the PAD and Operations Consultant (OC) to develop organizational policies and procedures. Conduct semi-monthly staff meetings and maintain organization calendars. Participate in season planning. Maintain organization documents and files. Oversee and troubleshoot IT needs, including hardware and software and other office equipment. Manage supplies necessary for efficient operations and staff support. Accounts Payable/Receivable, check cutting, bank deposits, finance reports and reconciliations, payroll and Actors Equity Association (AEA) reporting. Track grant funds and donations. Prep annual financial audit for Board Treasurer and outside auditor. Work with Board Treasurer and PAD to prepare financial reporting for Board. Assist PAD with budget creation, forecasting and cash flow management. Provide PAD and grant writer with financial data for grant applications and reports. Human Resources (HR):

Manage job postings, interviews, hiring and onboarding process. Hire and manage interns. Maintain employee records. Point person for staff on HR matters. Work with the PAD and OC to develop HR policies and address HR matters. Complete annual Workers Comp audit. Facility Management:

Oversee cleaning and general appearance of Theatre Exile’s facility. Work with the Production Manager (PM) regarding maintenance and repairs including utilities and elevator maintenance. Oversee facility contracts for maintenance and repair for facility systems with assistance from OC (i.e., HVAC, elevator, security system). Marketing:

Facilitate inter-departmental and outside vendor communication and coordination with Theatre Exile’s PR firm, graphic designer, printer and distribution vendors. Work with Marketing Director (MD) and PAD to ensure that Theatre Exile’s marking plan is executed according to the established timeline. Rental Program:

Work with OC, PM and MD to ensure renter’s space, Front of House (FOH), ticketing, and technical needs are met per rental contract. Work with PAD, OC and PM to establish rental rates and technical, ticketing and FOH rates. Schedule facility tours for potential renters when PM and OC are not available. Work with PM and OC to maintain rental/space calendar. Work with OC and PM regarding scheduling Theatre Exile representative for rentals dates. Work with MD to ensure that Theatre Exile’s ticketing and CRM platform (Patron Manager) is operational and accurate including creating ticketing and price items, managing batch settlements, and troubleshooting. Work with MD to ensure that FOH, house manager, concessions, and volunteer staff are trained and scheduled for performances and events. Work with MD to establish best practices for patron facing initiatives and box office procedures. Obtain Patron Manager certification. Complete yearly PCI certification. Be available to troubleshoot issues that arise during performances and events on an on-call basis. Development:

Work with Director of Individual Giving (DOIG) to ensure that all events are adequately planned and staffed. Work with DOIG and MD to ensure that all communications, solicitations and materials are developed and disseminated according to the Development Plan. Work with MD to ensure that DOIG has accurate and timely solicitation lists from Theatre Exile’s CRM. Education:

Work with Education Director (ED) to ensure that Theatre Exile’s Paper Wings program, theatre camp, and other education programs and events are executed according to Theatre Exile’s approved plan and and timeline. Community Engagement:

Work with PAD to develop and manage community relationships and partnerships and act as liaison with our community partners. Work with DOIG, MD, and PM to ensure that Theatre Exile’s off site events are executed according to plan and according to established timeline. Represent Theatre Exile at off site community meetings and other events. Qualifications & Requirements:

Strong leadership and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities concurrently and establish priorities. Ability to clearly communicate organizational goals and priorities verbally and in writing. Strong interpersonal skills. Results and action-oriented management skills. Experience with Excel, QuickBooks Online, Microsoft, Google, MAC OS, and database management systems. Experience with ADP and Bill.com a plus. Experience managing budgets, exhibiting financial analytical skills. Experience in an arts organization preferred but not required. Minimum 3 years experience in positions that have prepared applicants to assume the listed duties. EOE:
