The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) School of Nursing (SON)
was founded in 1890 and is the first nursing program in the Southwest. The school offers baccalaureate, masters, doctoral, and PhD programs. It recently completed CCNE and COA accreditation site visits with no compliance concerns. As Department Chair for Graduate Studies, the incumbent reports directly to the Vice Dean for Academics and is a dynamic, visionary leader responsible for administration, strategic planning, and academic excellence of the graduate nursing programs. The Chair will focus on faculty professional growth, workload and teaching assignments, support faculty scholarship, recruitment and evaluation, promote student success, and participate in special projects to enhance organizational culture and productivity. Qualifications
Doctoral degree in nursing or related field (MSN required if related). Eligible for or achieved rank of Associate Professor or Professor. Eligible for licensure or unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in Texas. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills. Significant experience in academic leadership within a nursing school. Distinguished record of teaching, scholarship, and service in nursing education. Experience and knowledge of accreditation processes and curriculum development. Income Package
