these activities are completed. Collects data and gathers other information on Congressional and Administration activity of interest to the department as appropriate. Manages and assists with the development of complex reports and critical analysis of legislation, rules, and regulations pertaining to health policy and higher education issues; manages and assists with the design and content of policy briefs /fact sheets, including state sheets. Assists in developing and managing AACN action alert content and messaging. Assists on any coalition, committee, consortium, or meeting activity as needed. Contributes to the government affairs and policy newsletter,
Policy Watch,
various social media accounts, and assists on any other coalition activities (e.g. Nursing Community Coalition), including drafting written material and developing one-pagers. Other duties as assigned. Requirements AACN promotes higher education; therefore, a Baccalaureate degree is preferred. Equivalent training and work experience may be substituted. Experience on Capitol Hill, in an association, or in another policy capacity preferred. At least 7 years of experience required. This is not an entry-level position. Excellent ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally. Must be highly organized, detail oriented, flexible and collaborative, able to work at a fast-pace, perform well under pressure, and have good interpersonal skills. Strong customer service focus. Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Understanding of Canva and InDesign a plus. Familiarity with standard office equipment and practices including use of computers, email etiquette, phones, photocopiers, filing and organizing. Occasional travel may be required for this position.
