Job Description Scientific Drilling is looking for an

Electronic Engineer III

to join our Applied Technologies Center in Paso Robles, CA. The ideal candidate will be proficient in analog and digital circuit design and have a strong desire to grow design capabilities and domain/systems knowledge in a cross‑functional team environment.

Our

Electronic Engineer

will work in our Research and Development Department and is expected to perform the essential duties listed below. Candidates must have authorization to work in the United States.

Key Job Functions:

Design and test electronic circuits and components for use in down‑hole applications where tools must function to 175°C+ temperatures and survive a high vibration environment using electronic theory and application principles

Work in a multi‑disciplinary team environment with mechanical engineers, electronic engineers, manufacturing engineers and production staff, and field specialists

Design electronic circuits and create circuit board layouts and routing

Document printed circuit board assembly design and bill of materials

Create wiring diagrams, system schematics, and specifications

Develop electrical test requirements and assist in test procedure development for production implementation

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve electronic component issues for new and existing products

Address field service reliability and safety issues with timely engineering analysis and design solutions

Act as functional lead for projects, project deliverables, and/or sustaining support

Lead delivery of cross‑functional requirements related to project assignment

Mentor and coach other engineers and/or manufacturing staff in the technical aspects of design, test, and documentation

Evaluate operational systems, prototypes and proposals and recommend repair or design modifications based on factors such as environment and system capabilities

Complete administrative tasks to accomplish safety and project reporting requirements

Travel domestically or internationally may be required, up to 10%

Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the needs of the business

Key Job Competencies:

Proficiency in design of analog and digital circuits and use of electronic components

Proficiency in the use of circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software

Eagerness to learn independently and from others

Ability to work independently and collaboratively to solve problems and deliver on project or customer requirements

Ability to work in fast paced and results driven environment

Ability and willingness to take ownership of understanding problems and developing solutions to achieve project and business objectives

Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask

Ability to present oneself with professional appearance and behavior in accordance with ATC dress code and SDI Code of Conduct

Ability to meet all SDI/ATC safety requirements

Ability to read, communicate, and understand the English

Adhere to established Company procedures and policies, work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in electronic engineering or related engineering discipline

6+ years of job‑related experience as an electronic engineer

Proficiency with Altium or similar design tools

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

Work Environment, Physical Job requirements and PPE: Equipment (machines, tools, devices) used in performing the essential job function include but not limited to computers and related equipment, calculators, copiers, fax machines, telephone and vehicles. Ability to wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to, safety glasses, hardhat, reinforced toed shoes, FRC coveralls, gloves, and ear plugs or muffs.
