Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for you to join our team as a Senior Principal Supply Chain Subcontract Specialist based out of Rolling Meadows, IL.

Responsibilities

Sourcing and procuring specialized goods and services.

Owning contractual management for the supplier.

Coordinate and collaborate with key stakeholders such as contracts, engineering, quality, supplier development, planning, operations, program, and end-users.

Prepared bid packages, conducted bidder conferences, and analyzed and evaluated proposals. Negotiating subcontract provisions, selecting or recommending subcontractors, writing awards, and administering resulting subcontracts.

Develops subcontract specifications, work statements, and terms and conditions for the procurement of specialized materials, equipment, and services.

In conjunction with quality organization, evaluate and monitor supplier quality and reliability, as well as the supplier’s ability to support required delivery schedules.

Identify strategies and opportunities to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and manage risk through strategic and targeted negotiations.

Manages the performance of subcontracts, ensures compliance with all public law requirements as well as company (and business) policies and procedures, including import/export regulations.

Employ sound business practices and assess supplier performance as part of follow‑up activities.

Ensure that appropriate documentation is provided to logistics/transportation & warehouse organization so that proper receipt is recorded.

Manage and develop strategic/key suppliers. Review and approve supplier payments as needed.

Utilize process tools such as Lean Six Sigma with suppliers to drive quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Strong strategic, innovative, and critical thinking skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Proficient knowledge in the MS Office suite, including MS Teams, OneNote, and Excel.

Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, macros, advanced formulas, and building reports.

The Senior Principal Specialists will additionally be responsible for providing subcontracting process and compliance requirements guidance to junior Subcontract Specialists, Supplier Management Teams, and Integrated Product Team Leads; provide subject matter expertise in all aspects of supplier and subcontract management; work in the general direction toward long‑range goals and objectives; perform autonomous tasks with minimal management oversight.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 8 years combined experience OR a master’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience in Subcontracts, Procurement, Contracts, or Finance.

A minimum of 12 years of combined experience in Subcontracts, Procurement, Contracts, or Finance may be considered instead of a degree.

Experience with SAP or related business application software.

Knowledge of FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulations) and DFARS.

Ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Government DoD security clearance at the Secret level.

U.S. Citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in supply chain.

Experience working on high‑dollar development Subcontracts.

Experience with negotiating high‑dollar contracts.

Knowledge of Earned Value Management System (EVMS).

Risk Mitigation experience.

Active DoD Secret Clearance.

Primary Level Salary Range: $108,400.00 - $162,600.00.

Based on responsibilities and experience, employees may also be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long‑term incentive plans.
