Project Architect
Valdes Architecture & Engineering is seeking a Project Architect to lead the planning and design of a variety of building projects for government, higher education, and industrial clients. The role focuses on new buildings and the renovation of existing spaces, including municipal buildings, laboratories, offices, and research facilities.
Responsibilities / Technical Competencies
6–7 years of experience providing architectural design and construction document preparation within a professional architecture/engineering firm.
Recommend best value design solutions that meet client requirements, operability, reliability, maintainability, and safety.
Generate design documentation, construction documents and renderings utilizing 3D software (Revit, Rhino 3D, and others).
Work with applicable codes and standards (City of Chicago, IBC, ADA, etc.).
Develop designs and produce drawings and specifications to define the architectural scope of projects.
Coordinate all design team disciplines, including outside consultants, to achieve a fully coordinated project.
Perform specialized investigations such as existing‑condition verification, support construction cost estimates, and assist in building‑system alternatives.
Apply architectural theories, concepts, principles, and processes to provide solutions for complex design projects.
Assist in reviewing the technical evaluation of construction bids from contractors.
Support business‑development activities, including client proposals, SOQs, and presentations.
Qualifications
Architecture degree from an accredited U.S. program.
Proficiency in Revit and rendering programs required.
Licensed architect in the state of Illinois (licensure in other states is a plus).
Experience with municipal, federal, and higher‑education clients (industrial clients is a plus).
Ability to provide space planning and conceptual design through to construction‑document production and construction administration services.
NCARB certification is a plus.
LEED AP accreditation is a plus.
Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
$100,000 – $130,000 a year
