Position Summary The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine seeks an academically‑oriented Clinical Immunologist for a tenure‑track/tenured, fixed‑term, or variable track position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The faculty member will serve in the Immunology, Flow Cytometry, and Histocompatibility Laboratories of UNC Hospitals. Clinical duties include review and sign‑off of test results, quality control/assurance data, test development/validation, and provision of consultative services including on‑call coverage. The position offers exceptional opportunities for translational research through strong interdisciplinary research teams and excellent research core facilities. Excellent teaching opportunities are also available.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

PhD, MD, or MD/PhD.

Postdoctoral fellowship training in Clinical Histocompatibility (ASHI approved) and Medical Laboratory Immunology.

MDs must meet CLIA required training and experience for histocompatibility testing and be licensed to practice medicine in North Carolina.

Board‑certified or board‑eligible in Medical Laboratory Immunology and/or Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics.

Eligible to obtain clinical privileges at UNC Hospitals.

Experience in immunologic testing for infectious, allergic and autoimmune disease, flow cytometry and histocompatibility (solid organ and hematopoietic cell transplant).

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience

Experience in clinical molecular genetic testing, especially next‑generation sequencing for infectious disease and immune disorders.
