Position Summary This recruitment will fill a part‑time (maximum 24 hours per week) Story Architect position for the School of Writing, Literature, and Film at Oregon State University. The Story Lab’s Content Studio (storylab.oregonstate.edu) is a dynamic initiative dedicated to nonfiction documentary storytelling that explores the impact of science and research. We are building a team of Story Lab Associates—student producers, artists, and storytellers—who will work alongside media professionals and transform complex research into compelling narratives ranging from short‑form social media content to feature‑length documentaries and podcasts.
Key Responsibilities
Editing video content ranging from social short‑form clips to feature length documentaries.
Audio mixing and sound design.
Organizing large amounts of audio and visual content.
Developing story plans and narrative structures that effectively communicate scientific research.
Collaborating with researchers, media professionals, and studio associates to produce high‑quality media products.
Experimenting with new formats and storytelling techniques to enhance audience engagement.
Required Qualifications
Strong grasp of narrative structure.
Experience with video or audio editing.
Curiosity about science and how research can solve real‑world problems.
Creative mindset and willingness to experiment with new storytelling techniques.
Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.
Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.
Must meet applicable minimal enrollment standard: High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home‑schooling program.
Undergraduate and post‑baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term.
Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*.
Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term.
Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*.
Experience using Adobe Creative Suite.
Familiarity with video cameras and production.
Experience with the latest media production software.
Advance understanding of narrative structure.
Strong writing and photography skills.
